    I had/have no problem with the MMR at all. And i really wouldn't want to make him angry. Imagine what his pants would do.

    While I can't comment from a medical perspective, I can from annecdotal experience. My mother had a nasty case of chicken pox as a child and an even nastier case of shingles when she was 76! Had issues with pain from shingles until she passed on 10 years later. :(

    Shingles are possible whether or not one has had chicken pox.

    chickenpox is a horrible disease that leaves people scarred for life and is also associated with rare cases of meningitis/encephalitis - like any herpes virus you have it for life and it is reactivated later as shingles - it should be vaccinated against

    You have to have had chickenpox to get shingles - some people get it so mildly they don't know but shingles is the reactivation of the virus

    why don't we vaccinate then? or is that further back in the thread and I've missed it.

    I remember having chicken pox.

    I remember having mumps when I was 7. I felt totally wretched. I still remember how sick I felt.

    We were about to start the vaccine programme then everything went in the can as MMR hit the headlines
