OK I'm staring at this job application form. The position is for Teaching Assistant. The school is a 250 place secondary school for children with learning difficulties and complex needs. 11 - 16 year olds. I can do this job, I know I can. I don't have the standard NVQ they tend to look for in these jobs. I have some experience as a parent helper in Steven's school - that's with a younger age group. I've coached rugby to older children.

How can I sell myself to this school?

Good one. We have lots of those. I'm quite adept with a wheelchair.

    This is very hard.

I've been reading up on the school and they are introducing a horticulture course. If I put on the form that one of my hobbies is gardening and then directly mention that course - is that too obvious and crass, or would they like the fact that I've read up a bit?

oh ok, just because I'm nosey!

obvious should be good ~ you've had lots of experience dealing (possibly not the right word?) with people, you don't have the qualification but you're more than keen to work towards it, you grow you're own veg.....can't think why you shouldn't get it really!

They would like it. Don't forget to say why you would like to work there. :)
