I have boxes of old (like from the 1960s) slides. I guess that back in the day everyone took pictures and then had them made into slides so you could invite over your friends, set up a screen, and then load up the slide projector and have a nice show.

There are some pictures in those boxes that I'm sure I'd want to save. I know that I'd have to go through and just hold them up to the light to see what is on each one (the slide projector of course is long gone), but can I still have them made into real pictures or put onto a photo CD??

    You sure can!

You can either send them to a company which will scan them in a very high resolution for you, making prints as well if you wish.

You can also buy home scanners which have slide addons from pretty cheap these days that work well :)

Would a home scanner thingy make a blow up of what the slide looks like?

yup :) just like a photopass CD, you'll end up with a digital image of whats on the slide.

Bear in mind it's not just ANY scanner... it either needs to be one that says it'll scan slides or one that comes with an attachment to do it.

Just about any home scanner can be used with a special pyramid adapter though

My parents had boxes of slides from when my sister and I were little and this past Christmas Dh and I got them a gift card from Scan Digital http://www.scandigital.com/
They did an amazing job with the slides!! They put them up on a website for you so you can share them and when they send the slides back they send you a dvd as well :p015: We would use them again in a second!
