Last year when I went for my eye test at the opticians, they sent me to hospital for glaucoma tests. Turns out I am borderline for glaucoma.:(

Just been for my yearly check up this morning and I have the start of a cataract in my right eye :(

It's good that they have spotted it early Diane Is there anything they can do to help

Cataracts can be removed easily now, Chris' mum had hers done last year

    My mum's borderline glaucoma too.

Cataracts are easily dealt with these days.

Good that they're diagnosing these things early, Diane.

Cataract surgery is very common these days--and you can choose your vision range! My mother went from very near-sighted to slightly far-sighted. They can't guarantee 20/20 vision, but they come pretty close.

And glaucoma--when diagnosed early--frequently can be controlled with eye drops that adjust the pressure.

Both my mother and Uncle Art had cataract surgery and developed glaucoma afterwards (very common). This was a number of years ago--about 20 for my mother and probably 10 or so for Uncle Art, so they've undoubtedly improved the procedures now.

I'm just waiting for my doctor to tell me I have either or both conditions. :sigh; So far, so good though.

Thanks guys.....I was a bit down today. Mam had both glaucoma and cataracts and she lost 90% of her vision.....I guess I was thinking the worst!

Waiting on a letter to go and see some one at the hospital.
