You have to watch out for those priority boxes. The Postal workers get really testy if you use them "in the wrong" manner. Of course, the rules that govern their use are clear as mud.

One time I was mailing a quarter (I think it was only one, but it might have been two-not many at any rate) to our Dawn. The postal worker felt the coin in the card/envelope and asked. I told her what it was. She told me I'd have to send it registered mail and it would be some ung-dly cost like $22 or something. I took it back, went to another Post Office, kept my mouth shut and mailed it for a sensible price.

They are taught to increase/protect the revenue. That means, get you to purchase the most expensive form of service they can.

Thank heaven for online info. We can now be somewhat informed, eh?

You have a great Post Office Mystikpiglit!!!

I will say, at the Winter Garden main office, there is one clerk who is really nice and well informed regarding rates and services. She always tries to be of the most help.

So, as with all things in life, it's not all bad, eh?

It is certainly a great little Post Office. At the moment she has 2.99 packs of Cmas wrapping paper for 99p and boxes of cards at 75% off. Bargains! :D

Update on mine - sorry may be a little late

Not been online for a while as DS broke his right femur really badly last week, rushed into hospital and had to lay in bed in pain on the ward for three days before they could operate as they had to order specialist parts.

Had 6 hour surgery last Friday and came home last night. He is in a lot of pain and now bed bound till xmas/new year which means I am housebound(again, some of you know he had major op earlier this year with three month recovery) Surgeon has said he is not to weight bear for 6 weeks and full healing will take 6-9 months. He now has a metal plate and screws in his right leg from groin to knee - to match those in his spine and ankles.

Really quick response as I have to watch him 24/7 as he will try to get up, even in pain. He has been awake half the night (as have I and is now asleep) Due to his disabilities he does not understand what has happened to him.

Someone pass me a drink...I will get my ornament a.s.a.p but will have to get someone to post for me so apologies if a little late.

She tells me I can go over and purchase a regular box if I want to send it cheaper. I am going to a different post office tomorrow.
Jeez, they aren't nice are they? The one I use (main PO in Portsmouth) is fantastic! The guys who work there are very helpful and cheerful. Nice to see customer service.

Now my package was sent to the UK..they never asked me for a customs form... Hope it gets there ok. I think the packages sent last year for another exchange got there just fine and I didn't do a customs thing. PO guy asked anything fragile, perishable...yada yada..to which I said no, does that make a difference in them requiring me to get a customs form?

Thanks...at least my ornament is to someone in the UK so no imminent postal deadlines to meet. Will ask someone to pick one up for me at the weekend.
