    She sounds like a wonderful woman, Brit. Can you get her gift cards for things she does need to do like purchase groceries, or pay for utilities? That's always helpful.

    How does she travel? Does she use public transport? Can you get her a gift card or multi-use ticket? Does she drive? Gas card?

    Chocolates are nice, but getting her something that shows you care about her life is probably going to touch her more.

    I think the best gift you could give her is time; how about afternoon tea somewhere? It could be posh in a hotel or just the two of you in a nice garden centre.

    yes! afternoon tea sounds like a wonderful idea - a nice hotel or even a lovely quaint tea room would be a real treat!
