Not wishing to to be the damp squib in all this but I fear that no one man can live up to the collosal weight of expectations that are being placed upon him

The office really seems to age the gentlemen who fill that role in the White House. They walk in young and eager and leave much older and wearier, the trials and tribulations of that position obvious in their faces and stature.

Tis not the expectations, but the hope that will see us through.

i agree Chris and i fear that we have all got caught up in a 'hollywood' moment of elation. But for now when there is so much cr*p in the world it is good to have hope.

Was just thinking that Becca. It's the hope and the belief that things can be different that is tangible here, just watching it.

I don't deny that at all - hope is a wonderful thing - my concern is that he has been left an appauling legacy and it is important that people have a realistic expectation of what can be achieved and with a realistic timeframe. People will wake tomorrow with the same problems they did this morning. I hope people will give him the time and resources he needs; as an outsider I can't see him turning things right around in just the one term of office - I'm afraid we live in a world where the media have made us all expect quick solutions to everything in life, be it an IT solution, a cure for a disease, the wait at a post office or a global financial crisis - the media jackals have a lot to answer for IMHO as they hold a lot of sway with public opinion.
