I think pudding is more of a generic term in the UK, meaning anything from the dense cake like dessert (we have a brown bread here that my Grandmother used to make-quite in the manner of the steamed pudding) to nearly anything else ya'll have for dessert!

Pudding here is as Johnie showed you, a milk based dessert cooked until thick, and flavored with whatever. Custard is much the same density, only made with eggs, and well...you know the rest. :D

Pudding is what us commoners call dessert

I love American pudding - I buy packs of jello pudding each visit and occasionally here bu they charge the earth at the US import places!

I know! I have the overwhelming desire for something sweet now

I know when I made figgy pudding that it was figgy cake.

The absolute nearest tasting thing I can think of to our syrup sponge would be your pecan pie... which we have as a syrup or treacle tart... treacle as in syrup not black treacle... dunno why it's called treacle tart when it's not treacle. Oh god now I even more confused....

Well I checked my slipper as Steven suggested but my voice is not in there.

It's definitely gone. Just a whisper this morning. Dog very confused. Another snow day would be useful.

Cottage pie tonight. Well like shepherds pie but with turkey mince - slightly healthier option after yesterday's excesses.

OK this is serious. I need my voice back.

Dog not responding to hand signals.
