Does anyone have any recommendations for a camcorder? We have never had one, but thought we would splash out for our trip with the grandchildren, and also some work my husband would like to do with it.

I have a little Sony Handicam that came in quite handy on our trip to England! Tiny, light, great!

We also have a Sony handycam.. we barely use it though... since most digital camaras take viedo, its easier to just carry one around

As everyone else has already said, sony minicam here with dv tapes as per ukwdwnut says.

Cheap, light, easy to use and I can keep the cheap tapes around forever without HAVING to put them on a computer if I like

I agree about miniDV. So much better than the DVD ones, which IMO are a 'step back' so to speak- so difficult to edit!! If they made a DVD that could act like a SD card so you could drag and drop, that'd be very handy.

Sony Handycam here aswell. We jumped from a dv tape one to a hard drive, while you have to transfer the hard drive to computer it's a easy to edit and play with as the dv tape format.
