    Yes, today is Mardi Gras!

Not sure about the giving up food items. We don't deviate much from our diet as it is. Perhaps cut down on some of the nicer bits of meat?

I could give up being grumpy I suppose, but then what would I be?

    No need to answer that!

One of my favourite lines "do you wake up grumpy in the morning" ............"no l let him lie in"

I refuse to give anything up ,think this hankers back to my catholic upbringing and being made to.

Doesn't it though, Siobhan? I remember Lent being a very austere time. My birthday fell during Lent from time to time and that was always an issue. My Mother wanted me to have a cake, and my Da always said it was Lent so no cake. No wonder I'm not much for birthdays eh?

My birthday is also always in Lent but thankfully my Mother isn't Catholic. You have never seen children eat cake so quickly before my Dad came home.

I dont observe but I will observe Fat Tueday..which is today! WOOHOO!

And what the enemy will see? They will see the flash of our cannons, and they will hear the ringing of our swords, and they will know what we can do! By the sweat of our brow and the strength of our backs and the courage in our hearts! Gentlemen, hoist the colors!
