Well as I'd previously said we all passed out at about 8pm local time as Wishes was rumbling away when we all faded. Any hopes of a full and luxurios nights sleep were utterly shattered by Matthew - hereafter referred to as the epileptic octopus who went from fast asleep to wide awake in 3.2 seconds flat at 3 am.
No, shhhhh or you'll wake Thomas
PLeaaaaaaase go to sleep, I'll give you $50
'Yes but thats in 4 1/2 hours please go to sleep, Lisa have we brought Piriton?'
We ended up sleeping 3 in one bed whilst Matthew laid alone in his own Queen sized bed talking complete garbage until 4.30 when Thomas woke up. e then dozed for an hour whilst Matthew did Pokemon stickers and Thomas 'cubed'.
Quite pointlessly the alarm went off at about 5.30 and we started to get ready for the day.
I feel I must make a couple of small points about the bathroom facilities in the Wilderness lodge, firstly as a deluxe you would expect the lighting by the huge mirrors to be soft and flattering, however it just isn't ,its the most hideous effect ever it took me a while to realise I was infront of a mirror and not infact staring at a bad painting of a naked mole rat or a badly shaved bulldog.
The second is the fan in the lavatory, it is like a lot of places, motion activated - fair enough save elctricity and all that , but it only fires for 5 seconds and then stops if you aren't moving. Therefore, if you are doing anything in there that, how do I put this 'would benefit from a fan being on' you must also simultaneously do the YMCA to keep the fan in operation throughout the whole of the 'event'.
Anyway we all got up and dressed quickly as today was the day we were going to Chef Mickeys for breakfast courtesy of our Johnie . So very excited and, reliably informed that the first launch of the day would arrive at the pontoon at 6.45 to take us to the temporary we strck out of the room and off for Breakfast.
I love the first morning of the holiday - everyone else is fast asleep (unless they are sharing a room next to us) and there is usually a lovely mist around that early in the morning, that and the fact we are going to say hello to Mickey in the MK :D
We were not disappointed, the hotel looked amazing , the ducks were still lazing about in the pool and the pier was shrouded in a dense fog that made the whole place just seem completely surreal and magical. we were the ONLY people around.
A huge black crane was sat on the end of the pier, and just as our anxieties started to rise a little out of the mist came the boat at exactlt 6.45. 'Wow' said Matthew - 'this man must be a mllionaire - he has his own boat :D'
The boat ride was pure magic - cool and a little breezy but the fog made everything deathly quiet and within seconds we had rounded the island for the temporary and had our first peek at the Bay View tower block which seems to have sprung up very quickly.
Just time for a few quick snaps and we were ready to be seated in Chef Mickeys.
D'oh forgot to buy autograph books - never mind we will do without until we get to MK.
Breakast was fantastic only been here a couple of hours and already met the Mouse :D Thomas had his first snog from Minnie, which he was chuffed about they were followed by Pluto Mickey and Donald. It was a fantastic way to start the trip and the boys especially loved waving the green towels around over their heads, or in Thomas's case whipping himself repeatedly in his face
25 minutes later and 358,000,000 calories later we get the bill which now includes a list of 'suggested tips to pay your server' a rough thumbnail calculation and I think I will give up my day job and go and work in a character buffet restaurant
Lisa leaves me to pay the bill and instantly gets jumed on by someone trying to sell her DVC - they really seem to be hard selling this at the moment and I am sure there are far more stands than when we were last there. 10 minutes later I arrive to rescue her and we fake a potty emergency with the boys to exit stage left - the effect is rather ruined by Thomas shouting 'BUT I DON'T NEED ONE', however we had to leave as Matthew will do anything for stickers even buy into time share.
All the shops are shut so we decide to get to the MK on the monorail which is still empty at this time of the morning. It is a great way to arrive and sawour first glimpses of BTM, SM and the castle as it drifted around towards the park - even saw the EWP tucked up for the day - must see that one night - not seen that before.
And as we arrived the mist cleared and the magic kingdom was bathed in beautiful golden sunlight and a clear blue sky....
