OK, here is some information I have gleaned.

Johnie, if you postpone the surgery what are the chances of more permanent damage?

Why aren't you eligible for leave sharing?

Hope you're able to reschedule it soon, Johnie. I've had short-term disability insurance only once in my life (apart from when I lived in California and it was a state program), so any time I have to be off for more than a few days, it's always an issue. Definitely can relate! Most of us who work for mid-size to small companies--particularly in Arizona--don't have sick leave or personal days, either. So it's vacation time or nothing. :(

Hope you'll be able to work something out soon.

I'm not eligible for leave sharing because I get leave (sick and annual) and I would be eligible for short term disability (which has a 7 day waiting period before it kicks in). I won't have any leave until later in the fall or early next year. I ordered a brace. I've called and left a message for the dr twice now to see about pain meds.....

Sarah, I wasn't yelling at you

I wore a brace for a few months before and also after surgery

I still use it from time to time when my knee hurts or when I walk a lot...

    It has really helped

In the meantime, try using ice packs and icy/hot or iodex or mineral ice and massage nightly... it also helps
