beef stew for dinner, and a veggie one for me. Was looking forward to dumplings too. I went and bought the veg this morning, got it all out on the worktop ready to prepare then asked Jay to get the beef from the fridge in the garage.

    It's not there, he says....

It's still in the blinking freezer - d'oh - I'm always doing that!

so it's pasta and tomato sauce instead.

I love stew! I make a very simple version, beef, potatoes (loads of them), white onion, and brown gravy. I've only made in the crock pot as well. Oh and to top it all off, I love Hawaiian rolls with it. Oh yummy!

I'm actually fixing a hamburger help today...but without the meat, so I guess I'm having cheesy potatoes.

well the way i make it is to coat the diced beef in flour then brown in a pan with a little oil. chuck in carrots, onion, swede, parsnips and some beef stock. cook until tender and veggies done then thicken the gravy.

if you put the frozen meat in a ziplock bag then soak it in water that can speed up the defrost- but i guess it's too late now lol
