If you're taking wine make sure you don't forget the CORKSCREW! I was at a hotel and bought a bottle of wine to mellow out and I'd forgotten to pick one up. I stubbornly wouldn't go back to the store to buy one...perserverence paid off...I managed to open it with a hanger!

    A hotel with room service!

    Barring that,

Portable radio/MP3 player with speakers, or other form of music. If anyone plays a guitar, it's a good time to break it out.

    Insect repellent.
    First aid kit.
Tools for assembling tent. Even if it says no tools required, take an adjustable wrench, a hammer, pliers, a hammer and a couple of screwdrivers. And duct tape.

We used to camp all the time, now we're looking at a new camper to go out west next summer. I love camping except for the sleeping part!! We always brought our truck and the car to load up the grill, tent, tarp, air matresses and i even had a large piece of indoor/ outdoor carpet that I put on the floor of the tent when the kids were small. Lots of places rent RV's or cabins too!! Where are you going?

How about a nice rented cottage instead? Even a Travelodge would be better than a tent....

there's not much available now, we may end up at the Holiday Inn Express - their breakfast is not bad!
