No idea on this one having never hired a car before!

Which is the best company to deal with and what do I need to know?

I think there are several good car hire companies...

I usually prefer to rent from large well established companies, because they have more locations, more and usually newer cars, and in general provide a better service.

I would check online at say expedia, travelocity and the like for rates according to the type of car you are looking for and go from there.

I have rented from National, Hertz and Budget and had good experiences with all of them

They are all pretty reputable. I would make sure the one you choose has a location inside the airport and that there cars are right there. Nothing worse than having to take a shuttle to your rental car.
