...anyone who discredits or doubts that real and lasting friendships can be formed via the internet should speak to me.
As many of you know, last night my children boarded a plane from Dallas, TX to La Guardia (NYC). They had spent the past three weeks visiting family and were headed home on a direct flight. They were flying by themselves for the first time, but because Andrew is 16 they were not considered "unaccompanied" minors. In route, the flight encountered bad weather and was diverted to Richmond, VA. I was terrified. They were alone, had very little money and well, THEY ARE KIDS!
As I stood at the ticket counter in tears, I realized (after Jon calmly reminded me) that our Johnie lives just 30 minutes away. I called her and she didn't even hesitate, because, as she told me...she loves them as if they were her own. And in this terrible situation, I was blessed. I could at least breathe. Luckily, they were allowed to take off again, and they arrived home this morning around 2:00 am. During that time, many of you encouraged me, made me laugh and just made this horrible situation bearable by your comments and well wishes.
You, my friends, are INCREDIBLE. You are cut from a very unique cloth. And no matter *what* brought us together, one thing is for certain...we are most truly and quite undeniably FRIENDS.
