Poor old Barney is 13 today and Kerry noticed he was dragging one of his back paws so took him to vet and he suspects arthritis and given him some anti inflamitory tabs and he has got to go back next week.

Been giving him some Pedigree Chum chews that are designed to give him joint supliment but open to ideas what else i can safely give him...

He dont quite need Micks zimmer frame yet but might have to nick it soon and adapt it for him...

Good luck with the chews. Foods very rich in natural glucosamine are good for dog's joints, as it is what goes towards building the cartlidge. Some of the supermarket foods are rich in it, I think Purina is one of them- but the packets will tell you.

I would also speak to your vet about supplementing the diet with something like drops of cod liver oil.

Poor Barney, hope he's soon feeling better. As Josh says, cod liver oil and glucosomine supplements are good, lots of the better quality dog foods are now formulated for different ages and problems, including joints - a chat with the vet will soon point you in the right direction. Big hugs for Barney

Hope the change in food helps Barney soon! It's hard to watch our best friends as they age and have limited ability to help them through difficult times. I'm glad pet food has improved over the years and is formulated for different ages and breeds.

    Feel better, Barney!

to you and Barney! I hope you find something that helps! It's so hard to see them having a hard time. Arthur is my one and only baby, and if he even coughs funny I get worried.

I have no idea what to do to help poor Barney, but wanted to say I hope the vet is able to bring some comfort to him.
