His passing is sad, indeed.
Being a bit more *ahem* mature, shall we say, I remember reading about Chappaquidack (misspelled, I'm sure) and other issues when he was younger. I was at an impressionable age, so those things tend to stick with me.
That said, he did a marvellous job of turning his life around--with help from those who love him--and becoming a wonderful advocate for the people. I didn't always agree with his views, but they seemed honest and compassionate. The country has lost one of its best statesmen.
It's interesting you say that Mick... I was watching something today and one of the reporters said they mentioned how tragic his family was and Ted replied that they had all been wonderfully blessed.
I also saw another snippet of when he was running for Congress. He looks about 12 yrs old but was 30. JFK was speaking and said "let me introduce myself, I am Teddy's brother". Quite cute.
