Thursday 16th part 2

We then headed over to Ballyheally Beach which has a random boulder plonked in the sea, and the boys collected some cool stones/rocks. On the way back we stppoed at a village called Wellington Bridge for ice creams which were eaten by the river, and then again for pick and mix sweets at the shop in Killinick which is where Bill and Ann live.

The boys went off on their traditional 'collecting golf balls' trip with Bill after which we had a lovely roast dinner and sat in the garden room with the woodburner going.

Oooo, yeah! Sheesh, I sure am needy!

I just read the next installment and I read too quickly as I thought you had typed that you guys had gotten ice cream and then were eaten by the river. What can I say, I have been writing about bulimia all morning for a class.

Such a pretty rocks and that boulder out there is very cool!

the owner - they even put them over the plant pots.......wonder where they got them all from, it might be right above the beach but i'm sure they couldn't have found that many on the sand - mind you, they've been doing it for over 20 yrs i think!

when you going, i'll let 'em know

More rain and another morning spent pottering after which we did a bit of shopping then went to the sand dunes at Curracloe.

The boys enjoyed messing around here as much as they did last year, getting covered from head to toe in sand and bringing piles of the stuff back home in their shoes and pockets!

Back at the house they waded in the stream and played football, then we all had a Chinese take out for dinner.

they'd dug holes to lay their heads in so we couldn't see them! I said we should send DH a text and tell him there were 2 headless bodies on the sand dunes!

Oh Mairead. Thank you so very much. Each shot is utterly perfect. I love the sea. It's a proper sea coast! None of this sissy tan sand stuff. Quite like some areas of Maine, you know.

The shell house is incredible! :jawdrop:

Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!! :hug2: :hug1: :hug2: :hug1:

I love seeing your boys being "boys", no worrying about being cool and who's looking. They look so happy.
Are the weather Mairead, you knew to take jumpers and WEt weather gear.
Now if l had a scanner and the pictures here, l could show you pictures of a 10 year me at Curracloe.

I knew there was a reason that Maine called for me. I just love this type of coast.

well i went 1/2 way down, maybe next time i'll be a bit braver - and i was worried about getting back up!

thank you :hug2:

the village which is a 10 minute walk from Bill and Anns house has a pub/restaurant, a farm/coffee shop (delicious food though quite expensive - a real treat though), another pub, petrol station with quite a comprehensive grocery store and post office, a small take out (burgers/chips i think - never been there) so all your requirements could be met there.

A drive of around 10 mins in one direction will take you to the Rosslare Harbour area with a supermarket, various grocery smaller stores, pubs, restaurants.

Then from the village another 10 minutes or so in the other direction takes you into Wexford town with a mix of smaller stores and high street chain stores housed in new and old buildings - a real mixture.

They have also built large supermarkets and industrial areas.....a sign of change i guess but i find it quite a shame.

I've always found Ireland to be fairly expensive for shopping although you can pick up some things for a reasonable price, at the moment we're pretty much on the same level with the exchange rates although we noticed this time that some groceries may be slightly cheaper at home..

We found Ireland fairly expensive too, but just thought that was the case in that are of the world overall.

They had just switched from the punt to the Euro when we were there, so it was a little confusing overall. The exchange was a bit better (for us) too. Almost dollar for Euro, so that wasn't bad at all!

you're fairly unlikely to get lots of bargains there that's for sure!
