Well its been a tubulent couple of weeks trying to get booked.

The main issue is that we are arriving Easter weekend :mental: and as it transpires everyone in the known universe is going to WDW that weekend

Put in our booking request with Daves ( who were brilliant and very very nice) , but unfortunately as it was a huge number of DVC points they initially didn't have anyone to approach whose home resort was BLT so we had to wait for general sale.
General sale came last week and they duly sent out to try and secure us the points we'd need. Days passed and unfortunately availability started to dwindle. No points secured , but emails asking if we'd do a split stay, possibly some days in a 1 bed then move to a 2 bed. ? Wilderness lodge for a bit then BLT - it was all getting a bit complex. Thought about AKL again for a bit but again the issue of being a bus ride away from breakfast reared its head.

All the excitement of a week ago was beginning to evaporate a little. There didn't seem to be any way forward

So fiddling about last night on the Disney official site they confirmed that availability was very limited but a 1 bed was still possible for the 2 weeks.

More expensive? yes , view of teh car park? - yes BUT where we wanted to be for 2 weeks and the bonus of only one reservation number so only one set of bands and no changing rooms halfway through.

Fiddling a bit more showed that actually there may be a 2 bed later in the holiday once spring break was over. So I rang Disney today and asked if it was possible to stay in the 1 bed room and if we found it a bit cramped with the boys would it be possible to go up to a 2 bed later on.

The lovely lovely lady at Disney did what noone else could do and found us a 2 bed for the whole 2 weeks - she spent ages off the phone looking at their 'pool' o something and as someone had run up today and moved around there was 1 room for the whole duration of our stay

.. and its Lake view ;)

So - quite a lot of money for sure BUT we have the 14 day ultimate tickets included and can start sorting all our fastpasses and dining etc

have quite a bit of buyers regret now

but... Carpe Diem and all that :D

can't take it with you mate, may as well live life

made up for you, you'll have such a great time and IMHO contemporary/BLT are in the heart of the magic, a walk to MK, great views, fireworks at night. Wow, you'll have a brilliant time

    Thanks guys :D

I know you can't take it with you mate but my kids might need it and it represents quite a few terms worth of fees for them. However on balance we need to make some memories as a family as well

Jeff - we looked at AK villas, apparently we'd have to take a bus from the villa stop to the hotel to get hot food and buses to the Parks.

The problem with my lovely Matthew is that he forgets absolutely everything so I can just see us getting to the bus stop and him telling us he'd forgotten his sunglasses/ticket/shoes etc

I know no 'one' resort is perfectly placed but the idea of being able to pop into the MK and pop out again and walk to the hotel after fireworks is something special - even if its busy with FP+ we can nip over do our 3 attractions and go for a swim. I have memories of long long queues for buses to hotels. Lines that barely move then just when you are getting there a wheelchair pulls up with an entourage of 50 followers. Fair enough but not easy when you have a 2 year old. Taking a monorail will be absolute bliss !

That is fabulous news! You are going to totally enjoy your time there. I am so pleased for you that you were able to work with someone who could accomplish what you needed. A 1 bedroom would have been beyond cramped. Seriously.

I know it's crazy priced, but you really do only live one, and it's not like you and Mrs. Skywatcher throw caution to the winds, eh? :)
