A rumor making the rounds at the moment is that the American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, will close in January 2015.

An as yet confirmed joint statement is alleged to have been released by Walt Disney World, FreemantleMedia and 19 Entertainment about the impending closure:

"After more than five successful years, The American Idol Experience will be coming to a close at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in January 2015. Our partnership with FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment has been a great addition to the park and we are very appreciative of the amazing cast and guests who have devoted their time and talent to make this experience special and memorable. We are incredibly proud of the more than 2,000 Dream Tickets that have given guests a chance to live their very own Cinderella story and audition for 'American Idol'. This past season alone, three of the Top 13 contestants were originally discovered through The American Idol Experience and we expect the attraction to continue providing top contestants for 'American Idol' XIV in the coming year."

Will you be disappointed to see the end of this experience or is it something you've never taken part in?

Nope. Not even a little disappointed to see this one go :)

We've watched a few times, and Baleigh auditioned for it once, but apart from it being a last-minute diversion, it's not really meant much to us...

Haven't ever seen it, here or on tv. Guess losing it matters very little to me.

Saw it a couple of times. Won't miss it. Would love an updated version of Superstar Television to return to this space but with the rumor of the entire Echo Lake section to become part of StarWars Land I guess that won't happen.

I'm with Tink on this. Never been to the attraction and never seen it on TV. No big loss IMHO.

Good. Never interested in this. A lot of space there could be used for better purpose.

If I remember correctly is was basically Disney's until Universal swept in at the last minute to outbid Disney.

I think Disney has more than made up for it in the succeeding years with the purchase of Marvel and Star Wars (not to mention Muppets and Pixar). Plus getting rights to Avitar.

    Totally agree DF.

HP is brilliant at US but I think it lacks the magic somewhat and it's all been crammed into a little area. It may be different with the new extension but I can't see how it will ease the bottleneck.

From what I heard and read JK Rowling wanted overall control of the end product. Something which Disney wasn't going to agree. Hence why it's at Universal.

To be honest, I think universal have probably done as good a job as what Disney would have done. THe test will be whether it lasts the years it's meant to.

However in regards to the topic I think it's about time this went. Can't wait for star wars/cars land (delete as appropriate).
