Well, excellent luau.
They used to always sit two people parties at the front given a reasonably early booking but for ages all we've had is parties of four at the front. Tonight we had great seats...table for four but just the two of us. I actually managed to relax a bit I always joke that the luau is turn brain off time and it really really is there's just nothing to it other than all you can drink wine and a mindless show. Sometimes, that's just what's needed
Wow though to the polynesian refurb stuff :/ MOST Of it is covered by "pardon our dust" covers and if I was staying there hmmmm I wouldn't be best pleased at paying full price to be honest.
Wow I'm rethinking Johnny Rockets after seeing that burger and fries, those fries look scrummy and that shake.....
Funny.....British for desert!!
Depends where you are John....freaked me out to hear my nieces hubby and kids call all carbonated beverages Coke....can you guess where they live? Atlanta!
Keith, it certainly looks like a wonderful trip so far. Glad you and Helen are having such a great time. I shouldn't have looked at all the food images before my meager lunch in a brown bag....
Very nice and relaxing so far although apparently it's due to start raining again this week so we'll see ;-)
And the rain has arrived. It's gone dark and rainy and gloomy.
All those lovely photos help to chase away the gray!
Wendy, Herself will love the idea of Bern's!! (Well, me too but you know what I mean). Your 50th? This year??? Best check your birth certificate, Miss. You don't look anywhere close to that milestone.
We do love to share our Stampede, don't we? It's actually large enough for all of us, isn't it?!
It's a date for next year then
I am definitely 50 this year and I am in for some teasing, I'm the youngest of all our friends and I have teased them all when they reached 50, so I'm expecting some payback
At epcot now threatening to rain so they've moved the dessert portion of the illuminations party indoors. So far it's not that impressive tbh
Sorry that it's raining i've seen photos of the after dark thing and that looks really good
To be honest, other than a spell in the afternoon when it drizzelled a bit, it didn't rain the whole time we were at EPCOT but I guess they were worried it would and so moved the dessert portion of the evening inside.
First thing to say about the illuminations party is, it's not like I was expecting having done the wishes party a few times. Over at MK, I'd say there were often between 30 and 50 people in a wishes party, the illuminations one had 250 easy. So a small affair it was not!
The inside venue was over the bridge in a large unremarkable room. There were huge tables in there and by the time we got there, 8pm, all the tables were just about full. We eventually found two seats left at a busy table full of non-talking people and that really describes it. The rest of the table wasn't talking, eating, drinking, they just sat there.
Anyway, we walked around and tried the desserts which were freshly cooked and "ok". Let's face it, I was never going to get that much out of the desserts given I kinda don't do desserts but I think they would have been better outside really.
There was an endless supply of champagne and sparkling prosecco which was nice and at about 8:45 they led us all outside to the special viewing spot which was in between the two shops at the front. Next to where the fastpass+ area is but probably a little better view in honesty.
The area was huge and did fit the quantity of people in nicely. I was kinda concerned it wouldn't and in fairness, the view was probably the best I've had of illuminations. The globe was directly in front of us and all the fireworks were visible.
So in all, perhaps if you're more of a dessert person than me, it would be worth doing. I don't think there was enough variety in the desserts to really justify it but the viewing area was really great.
If you don't fancy the desserts, just get a fastpass+ for illuminations. It'll be MUCH more crowded but almost the same great view and free!
Truly excellent meal this evening at the Waldorf Astoria Bonnett Creek - Bull and Bear. In fact SO good, I'm even loathed to share it in case it get's busy
Excellent food, service and surroundings
