The Be Our Guest Restaurant in the new Fantasyland has proven to be very popular with Guests, with lines stretching way back in the mid day sun. Disney are obviously concerned by this as they have been loaning umbrellas to shade from the sun and providing ice cold cups of water to Guests waiting on the bridge.

The new policy, which will be for lunch only, will mean Guests will be able to go to the kiosk at the beginning of the bridge early in the day to pick up a return time card for lunch. Once all the return time cards have been distributed for the lunch period all other Guests will be turned away. It will mean that Guests will not just be able to walk up and join the line without a lunch card.

Disney have already implemented a new policy for their Guests staying onsite at their Resort hotels. Guests are sent an email offering them a Fastpass+ reservation where they are also able to pre-book their meal choices in order to expedite matters.

Lunch at Be Our Guest is still considered to be Counter Service for the purposes of the Disney Dining Plan.

I can see the reason that Disney are doing this but I do think it is a little unfair for Guests who don't know how the system works or who have decided on a whim that they would like lunch at Be Our Guest. It seems that before long you won't be able to eat anywhere at Disney without some sort of reservation.

What do you think about this new policy, do you think it's fair or is it just too much planning.

yeah getting really tired of EVERYTHING needing a reservation :( we never stay in the park all day and never early in the morning, so that means we've no chance of getting into BoG.

I think they need to look at the quality of the OTHER restaurants in MK. Be Our Guest is just so much better than the others that quite apart from the novelty of it, it's going to be oversubscribed because of the quality.

Time to let the other places serve alcohol too.

Yep. :( Another over planning required policy. Guess that works for many who can do that, and clearly there are enough who can to keep WDW focused on that category of guest. All well and good, simply not so great for those of us who fall outside that category. :sigh:

They need to change the name of the restaurant to "Be Our Reserved Guest".

I like to plan but it's all getting a bit much now. What with this and all the extra hard ticket events and pay extra for this and that we're personally getting priced out of Disney. :(

So, Disney spend Billions on removing fastpass to introduce magic bands etc and now they are introducing well.... erm.... fastpass.

I've said a few times how there is no spontaneity at Disney (other than being able to spend money in their shops really easy).

We have an ADR for an evening meal fortunately.

It's the people who just come on a standard holiday I feel sorry for. Those who don't read forums or listen to podcasts. They've got no idea about FP or ADRs and could be left overwhelmed and disappointed.

Lisa, you should have heard something by now, try looking on your Disney Experience and see if there is anything there. If not give them a call and they will send you the link to the website. I did have it, so I will have a look tomorrow and see if I can find it.

    It's ridiculous.

Top that with the utter failure if villains unleashed this past weekend and I'm really beginning to wonder what Disney is thinking.

Deb (the one with the website known for the menus) Wills didn't even like the villains special, and she is the most Disney positive person I know.

I read her blog yesterday and she was not impressed just as thousands of others weren't. This is just going to be a pain in the backside. Looks as if I will have to hop on to the train, get off at FL and do a reservation before I get to do anything else.

I was speaking to one of the adr people on the phone yesterday. She noticed that we had dinner reservations for BOG and seemed incredulous that we'd managed to grab a reservation. I explained that we'd booked 90 days out, but she replied that we must be, and I quote, 'magically lucky'. Seems there is no let up for the demand for this particular restaurant.

Was there ever such a fuss about any other restaurant in the parks, or just this one?
