I think one of the options/perks of spending your birthday at WDW is a voucher to spend in a WDW shop. Does this voucher also have to be spent on that day or can you save it for a later date?

You can save it! :9: We went to WDW on my birthday and it was a simple matter to go to the ticket window (IG at WS in my case) and present my AP with driver license to obtain one of three options.

You can have a single park, single day ticket for use at any time within the year.

You can have fast pass for all day for everyone in your party to be used on the birthday and it expires at the end of that day.

You can choose the gift card that has $75 on it and is good in WDW shops (not all, very specific about that) and does not expire. It cannot be used for food or beverages.

Again, those are the options for someone with an AP who goes to a WDW park on her/his actual birthday. You must do that to take advantage of the options as they are not available to you any other day.

    Thanks Tink.
I didn't realise you had to have an annual pass for the options you mentioned.
We will actually have AP's and I think DH would go for the $75 voucher.

If it is your birthday and you don't have an AP....do you still get something? (maybe a lesser option)

If it's your birthday and you don't have an AP then you are allowed into the park for free. That was the original promotion. Spend your birthday at WDW. Then, for those of us with APs, WDW came up with those three options I described.

    Not bad, eh? :D

The three options other that free entry are also available to you if you have a valid multi day pass.

Thats what we are going to do, it's my son's birthday whilst we are there and we will have 21 day passes. So he will get vouchers to spend.

Oh! Thank you! That is very good to know. I wondered about that (same principle as the AP after all) but wasn't sure.

    wow!! Those are great options!

If your birthday is during Easter, summer or winter holidays, the fast pass option sounds amazing!!

otherwise, definetly the $75 voucher! :)

Does the voucher have to be spent in one transaction?

I've not read anywhere that suggests it does. I think it can be spent virtually anywhere in the parks (probably not the stalls, just proper shops).

I will have to investigate further tomorrow when I get back on my other laptop with all the links on it!!

Here you go, I have found the terms & conditions for the Birthday Fun Card

    Birthday Fun Card

    Item 4

    4. No portion of the Birthday Fun Card balances will be redeemed for cash.

Suggests that the card can be used against multiple purchases, it appears to be like a swipe card with an amount of money loaded onto it that you can spend as and when you like on the day.

I am sure I read somewhere that the card is only valid on the day it is issued.

Thanks for the link, that's brilliant
DH was hoping to get his voucher on his birthday at AK....then spend some/ all of it, a couple of days later at World of Disney for a couple of t/shirts. Maybe he can't do that then!

I've just read through all the info that i can find, and there is no mention of only being able to use the cards on the day of issue, so maybe I just imagined it.

    Another update.

    Just found this

Orlando Fun Tickets Blog: Make Some Birthday Magic at Walt Disney World

    In one section it states:

There are some important things to remember in order to make sure you’re eligible for these amazing birthday gifts from Disney. First, you can only receive birthday benefits on the actual day of your birth. Similarly, the birthday fun card is only valid on your birthday – so be sure to spend it all!

Thanks for the information Simon, you've been a great help
Ok, the plan would now be to go to AK for DH's birthday (his choice) then, seeing as AK closes fairly early, we will head straight to DTD and the World of Disney shop where he can buy his t/shirts

I hope all of these tips from Simon are usefull for you too Ann :)

We will have AP's. Do we go through the ticket barrier as normal then go to GR once inside the park for the voucher or do we need to get it at a booth before we go in?

Here is the link to the Disney Birhtday site

Walt Disney World | What Will You Celebrate?

    It says:
If you are a Passholder or already have a Multi-Day ticket you will use on your birthday, go ahead and register and bring the free admission on Your Birthday confirmation and proper ID to the designated Will Call windows so you can choose from one of our other exciting birthday gifts instead.

Although bear in mind international guests don't register beforehand just have your passport with you.
