With immediate effect, Guests will no longer be able to rent sea racers, mouse boats and pontoon boats from:
    • Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
    • Old Key West
    • Saratoga Springs
The other resorts with boat rental facilities will not be affected.

It sounds as if the rental company aren't operating anymore, maybe they couldn't reach and agreement with Disney.

are they all on that stretch of water between the okw and downtown disney bit :/ I remember thinking last time I was there how surprised I was they let people buzz up and down that lane with the larger disney boats having to avoid them.

That makes sense then Keith. Otd not safe, plus, who knows what plans they have for those waterways once Disney Springs is fully working

I've never stayed there but you could rent them from the Barefoot Bay Boat Yard and Bike Works on Barefoot Bay .

I noticed when we were there over Christmas that Disney is planning to construct a pedestrian bridge between DTD and Saratoga Springs so maybe this is the reason why those particular boats will be quashed.

Oh gosh, that will be wonderful. We use the golf bridge (and sometimes have even gone into Treehouse and come across that bridge) so having a true pedestrian bridge will be great!

I've not been to DTD in some time. Sounds like we need to go and have a nosey around. :D

In the old PI section Tink there are several artists impression type boards surrounding the construction works and some of those depict the bridge I mentioned.

Is all the building work still going on at DTD in the car parks?

Yep, although when we were there most of the construction work was being carried out in the car parks furthest away from the shops at DTD.
We did notice on a couple of occasions though that the overhead gantry signs mentioned that entrances 1 & 2 were closed....these being the ones closest to the shops! ;)
