I've just read about the magic kingdom castle being dressed up as a cake and find it so funny. Does anyone have any photos of it like that? it sounds brilliant.

Has the castle ever been dressed up as anything else other than a cake?

It most definitely was NOT brilliant! It was the color of Pepto Bismol. Profound, as it was pretty disturbing to see.

Some folks really did like it though! I (clearly) am far too much a traditionalist to have the beautiful castle turned into a miserable pink, candy laden cake.

Don't have any photos, but hopefully someone will come up with one.

Yep. They did it for the 25th Anniversary of WDW in 1996.

    Glad that's over!

If you must subject yourself to it, here's the photo:

I really want to say I like it just to be contrary  but I can't, that was absolutely dreadful. It still makes me cringe just to see a photo of it

I attended a talk given by one of the senior members of Disney on one of our cruises and he openly admitted that this had been one of the worst decisions taken when it was decided to do this to the castle.

It was terrible but I actually am really pleased that I saw it like that and have the photos as it is so notorious now! Very glad it was my second visit though and my first ever view of the castle in real life was how it is meant to be seen!

I remember holding a sobbing 4 year old who when we flew to Florida couldn't wait to see the castle. It took until we returned in 2003 when as a 10 year old she finally got her wish!

My first (and only) view of the castle was when it was like this:

It was really nice but I would have preferred the 'plain' castle

You will be surprised at the changes Josh. The castle is "proper" now. As a castle should be! I know you won't get to see it covered in lights at Christmas, during your upcoming tour here, but it's pretty then too.

O.M.G.....That is the most AWESOME picture! Wish I could've seen it as a b-day cake! I don't remember the Cinderellabration decor.

I like the new Wishes pre-show where they project images onto the castle. That's pretty sweet. You can't see any of the pics of the people but the rest of the graphics are pretty dang cool. I tear up a bit when they make the castle black & white and Walt is there.

I think the dumbest thing was the Mickey hand and wand with Epcot in script on Spaceship Earth. I think that was a total "what were they thinking?" moment.
