I've never posted on ANY public forum, so I hope I'm doing this right. My husband and I are taking our kids to DW in October. First time for all of us! We live in OK, so our usual fall break trip is Silver Dollar City in Branson. From everything I've read about DW, we won't be disappointed! We're only getting 4-day park hopper which I'm told will not be near enough time to see it all, but I'm hoping that crowds will be light enough in Oct (17-21) that we won't spend all of our time in lines. Has anyone here been in October, and are the crowd predictors at Tourplans and WDWlines (android app) fairly accurate? Yikes! Hope this post just seems long to me because of typing it on my phone.
    Thanks in advance!

Hello Terri :welcomewagon: welcome to Disney Secrets. October is a wonderful time to go. Normally the weather has cooled just a bit from the overbearing heat of summer, the crowds have dropped and the wonderful EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is taking place.

    Hi Terri,

    And :spraywelcome: to Secrets!

October is a great time to go!

Don't forget about Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which will be occurring while you're there.
It's an extra cost ticket but well worth the price in my opinion. :nodboo:

Will you be staying on Disney property?

Tom :)macwave:... look out for the Headless Horseman!)

hi and welcome, i have never been in october but i dont think there is ever a 'not good time' to go to wdw.
here in the england the school half term break doesnt start until the 21 october this year, so maybe that will help it to be quiet,
make sure you do a plan to make the most of your time, you be suprised how much time you waste wondering 'what shall we do now'
    happy planning:wave:

Wow, you folks are fast! Ive read about the halloween party and it looks like a blast, however we're trying to stick to a budget and the kids, 13y/o boy & 17y/o girl, want to spend one day at Wizarding World and these tickets add up fast.

We aren't staying on property. We may be taking two of the kids friends, so we rented a house 13 miles away in Kissimmee. I know, traffic nightmare right? It was just so much less expensive than renting enough space for all of us in a DW resort (esp with 2 17y/o girls!). House has a pool and game room which will be nice since we'll be there 7 days but only 4 at Dw. Hope being off property doesn't mess up the trip. I should have researched more while we were in the planning stages.

last year we stayed at polo park in davenport, it was very close to the 192 and as it was easter it was very busy.
but compared to traveling around birmingham it was great lol
very easy to drive and never taking that long to journey to the parks:yes:

Hi Terri and a warm :secrets3:
Don`t be too concerned about the drive from your villa to WDW...if I [a Brit] can manage it every year then anyone can!
Seriously the traffic isn`t really that bad unless there is an accident on I-4, however there are better alternative routes from Kissimmee anyhow.
As others have said, October is a nice time to visit and it least you won`t have the really high temperatures to worry about.

October is the time of year I'd like to try at WDW but can't because of mine and DH's work. I'm sure you'll all love it...then you can come back, tell me all about it and make me jealous!!

    Welcome to secrets!!
Our first trip was in October and the weather was wonderful. Since then the next 3 trips were in february which at times was just as cold as the UK. Next year we are going in October again and we are looking forward to doing some of the water parks as well as the usual parks.
We rarely stay on site always opting for villas or timeshare apartments and have never found the drives to the parks busy (might of had something to do with going in february though)

    Hi Terri,

A hearty welcome to DS. I think October would be a fantastic time to go. Hurricane season winding down, it is a little cooler and there is the wine festival. All good!

We have gone over the Thanksgiving period a few times and while the weather had been great, the crowds creep up. So good luck planning, have a great trip. Oh take lots of pictures.
