Ok, seriously tho, isn't there a health risk about swimming in water that cold? Can't it cause your body to go into shock or a heart attack or something? Or is that just an old wives tale?

It needs to be a lot warmer than 32/0 before I'll go anywhere near it.

The water around Lady Elliot was like a warm bath - except where it got a bit deeper then it was pleasantly refreshing!

And I am at least half-English so it's not just the blood! :point:

We went in 2003 and said we'd never go again that time of the year and what did we do last year  It was quite warm though, I think it was unusually warm December.

We never went in the water once in December, it was too cold for us, the children did though.

Chris is the same as you  if and it's a big if at the moment, we go back this year then it will be end Sept/beginning of Oct so that we can catch the beginning of Food and Wine and MNSSHP.

    Wendy

That has always been our timeframe, last week of Sept first 2 weeks of Oct and we love it. Crowds manageable, MNSSHP and F&W... really it just doesn't get much better.

We went that time in 2007 Val and we really enjoyed it. I've got a photo of Main Street towards the castle and there isn't a single person in it - it's amazing really.

I don't go much on the love bugs  but I can put up with them :D
