After weeks of speculation, studying grainy video, hearing reports of strange encounters and trying to make sense of archival photos from another era, the Disney Dragon revealed itself on the 5th December.

The graceful, fire-breathing creature made his grand entrance in the night skies over Magic Kingdom around 7:30pm. The park had already closed to guests, leaving attending press, travel agents, executives, and their guests with a chance to see the fire-breathing creature impressively flying overhead.

Sources say that the Dragon made this special appearance last night because he was drawn to the New Fantasyland Grand Opening Celebration. As he disappeared into the darkness, Guests were wondering if they would ever see him again. There were plenty of cameras on hand to capture this magic moment, and the Disney Parks Blog captured this stunning video of him.

I wonder if this could be part of a new nightly event at the New Fantasyland? What do you think, would you like to see this become a permanent fixture at the New Fantasyland?

I would. I like new and innovative things, and this adds to that. I can't imagine WDW investing that much money for a single grand opening appearance, but they've been known to do such things before!

So so sad to hear this was a one-time thing. :cry1:

I think this is one of the most magical things Disney has come out with lately, and I love it. It's just beautiful.

Word is that the dragon is extremely cost prohibitive and lots and lots of paperwork.
