Disney unveiled the model for its planned resort in Hawaii which is expected to open in 2011.

The Ko Olina Resort & Marina will feature 350 hotel rooms, 480 Disney Vacation Club villas, a 18,000 square foot spa and a 8,000 square foot conference center.

The resort will be located on 21 acres of oceanfront property On Oahu's Leeward Coast and will cost an estimated $800 million. It is expected to bring 1000 jobs to the area.

Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann "Disney is committed to being a good corporate citizen and will help develop a stronger community by creating new jobs and offering promising career paths to many local residents."

Disney purchased the property for $144 million from JW Marriott last year. Hawaii was chosen due to high demand for this destination from Disney Vacation Club members.

Disney is still in the process of registering to sell timeshares in Hawaii. They are expected to begin sales prior to the 2011 opening of the new resort.
