One person has died after a crash on Walt Disney World property involving a Disney's Magical Express bus and another car Friday near Epcot.

The crash happened just before 4pm on Epcot Center Drive, near Overpass Road. Epcot Center Drive is completely blocked in that area.

One person, who was in the car, was pronounced dead at Celebration Hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reedy Creek fire officials said two other people on the bus, including a child, were also transported as a non-emergency precaution.

Disney officials confirmed the crash, saying the Magical Express is a Mears Transportation-owned and operated bus service that runs between Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World.

No other information was immediately available.

How awful. I have just read about it on FB as several friends are trying to make their way to Epcot. Seemingly it is raining very heavily too. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? My heart goes out to the family/families of those involved.

Let me tell you, for too long (20 minutes maybe?) our hearts were stopped. The boy saw the photo on the news and said, "That looks like my Dad's car." :( It most certainly did. It was very hard to tell the make. Finally, the newscaster said it was a Buick Century. That's not the car the boy's Da drives. Not a good span of too many minutes.

We're guessing it was someone on their way to work, given the time. :( Or perhaps getting off work. I can't imagine what happened to have a bus rear end the car.

Terrible that a life was lost.

Honestly I'm shocked this doesn't happen more often I'm on property 2 to 3 times a month and with all the people not used to driving near and on property and sudden stops the crossing of 3 lanes and yes even stopping in the middle of the road to take a picture of the huge welcome walt disney world sign and really there is no traffic police on property it's really a license to go as fast as you want

How sad to read about this. Sorry your little guy got so shook up Tink, but glad to hear it wasn't his Da's car.

The boy's Da works with someone who witnessed the accident. The driver of the car didn't steer it off the road when it stalled, so it was in the middle of the lane. The bus came over the little rise (probably doing about 55 which is allowed in that area) and smacked right into the rear of the car. :(

The Orange County Sheriffs do patrol the area and they do hand out speeding tickets (much more than ever before). :sigh:

If the driver and passenger had gotten out of the car, they probably would have survived.
