This was another office discussion today, now we hate airline food and wont touch it. We refuse all food on the plane and take our own. Even the smell makes me feel sick but we see other people wolfing it down

Ive been with ba and virgin, both are just awful.

What do you think? Who do you travel with and whats the food like? Is anyone else as picky as us and refuses all food on the plane?

Ok I'll be the first to own up. I travel with Virgin and I quite like their food. Ok it's not cordon bleu but it fills a gap and takes up a half hour of boring time.

We fly with Virgin. DH eats everything and I pick  I usually eat the crackers and cheese but I don't like the main courses much and I absolutely loathe the chocolate pudding!

Virgin, BA & others and I won't TOUCH the food.

In the past I've accepted the trays and left everything but now I'll say erm no food just the drinks please. Give Virgin their due, they normally ask me if I'm ok and if there's anything else they can get for me. Can't say fairer than that, it's not the flight attendants who arrange the meals after all.

Even the smell of them getting lunch ready makes me want to be sick and I have to concentrate on something else or try and sleep.

I really feel that they try far too hard to be fancy :( The BEST food I've ever had on any airline has been when they've kept it simple, a bacon sandwich or something.

Funny you should say that Keith as that`s what I choose for breakfast whenever we are fortunate enough to travel in UC.
VA always manage to burn the bread to a crisp though. It seems like they must "cook" [or should I say microwave] the bacon and bread roll together.

Nope. Don't like it (never did) and bring my own (which doesn't really count as I bring my own every where LOL) but blech.

I did have an airline attendant offer me cashews on a recent flight as I'd refused all of their food choices... will say though that the fresh fruit looked reasonably decent (but who knows what they put on it to keep it fresh looking... ).

Not a fan of airport food though either, so if I needed "real food" I'd bring it with me...

We are not very keen on airline food really. My DH eat most of his just to fill a gap,I picked at mine so does my DS, but my DD doesn't eat hardly any of her's but then again she is a really really fussy eater.

I have to say that I have never been on a flight where they offered food. I guess they have not been long enough (though I did fly from CA to IN and that was way long enough). I miss peanuts.

I do like it most times but have to say... I don't always want to eat when they serve it out... so like this last Greek flight we opted for no meals and took sandwiches and I much preferred that... could eat when I wanted to or not. With the op I've had I can't just eat whenever it's served up I have to have suitable intervals between or I just cannot eat.

AA was the worst food we have ever had. i refused it on the way home. I do pick at what we have been given on other airlines. i never eat breakfast as it makes me sick on the long drive home, not sure why.

I have to say I eat it on long haul flights solely because it's something to do.

I quite like the food ! Never really had anything that ive thought was horrible - as a main meal i mean. I dont like the breakfasts though, we usually seem to get leathery omlettes and they are grim - last time we flew we had an egg and something muffin which was terrible, it wa worse than mcdonalds which is saying something!!

Many many years ago I flew back from Spain with Britannia and they served the most awesome cooked breakfast. Scrambled eggs done to perfection, bacon, sausage, tomatoes and beans. To this day I have no idea how they managed that on a little plane but every passenger was raving about it. :D
