Love to sew. Anyone else?
Wow! I'm definitely impressed. The only sewing I have done was in middle school. I made a lovely bag.
Although I truly have no time for it any longer, I once thoroughly enjoyed sewing. Now I'm lucky if I can get a button put back on a shirt.
You've shared some lovely photos! You do beautiful work. Thank you for letting us have a glimpse!
Those are gorgeous, Sally!
I sew, but only adult stuff for the past 20 years or so. I really enjoy it, but a crazy work schedule limits the time available for things I enjoy.
The "girls" (my cousin's daughters) decided they only wanted designer label clothing beginning about age 12, so I haven't had young ones to sew for until recently. Abi (the younger "girl's" daughter) is 16 months now, so I'll probably begin sewing a few things for her this summer. Eric (the older "girl's" son) is three, but his mom is still in designer label mode.
Seriously doubt I'll make anything as creative as you--they aren't into Disney--but I'll have a bit of fun before Abi grows up too much!
Edited to add:
Love the "inspired by" customs, Sally! They're adorable and more practical than the elaborate costumes so many people make. Gorgeous, just not always practical!
ho my gawd Sally honey those are beautiful!!
I am terrible at sewing If it has a hole in it.....I throw it out. As for making costumes as wonderful as those in your photos....forget it.
I do however cross stitch when the mood takes me.
wow Sally! my Mum can sew but unfortunately i'm terrible
oh my goodness, the outfits are fantastic!
They are fantastic Sally! I especially love the Pluto skirt.
Ah but Issy, your cross stitch creations are pure artistry! You should show some to Sally! I know she'd agree and love to see them! (Me too... ).
They say the sign of a cross stitcher is when the back is as neat as the front. I figure if no one sees it, who cares. I used to stitch all the time, then had hand surgery and haven't done it in years.
As for sewing, I hadn't done it much in years, then Kirsta started to ask for the Princess dresses. I hated to have her wear the itchy stiff dresses in the heat. So I converted tshirts and skorts to Princess summer wear. I wonder if I could find some pictures? Anyway, she's 8 now, and will only wear this stuff when we go to Disney now. I do have a 2yo neice, that I plan on taking to Disney in another year or so, when her mother will let her!!, so I have someone else to sew for.
Some of these are live and learn outfits. Belle, I forgot Kirsta shoves the waist band under her stomach. The Snow White and Aurora I loved. Cinderella, well, I should have put the puffs on the skirt, not the shirt.
I meant to thank everyone for the nice compliments. I got a little carried away showing my pictures. Right now I'm making a summer Prince Charming outfit for a 3yo Prince. I'll have to make sure to get a picture of it. Even though it's riddled with mistakes. I'm on a time crunch with it and I just keep making all these rookie mistakes.
I want to see some of the CrossStitch creations. I keep thinking I'd love to do the Castle.
Sally, you are so clever! Can't wait to see the little Prince Charming
OMG those are GREAT! when my girls were little, I sewed all their clothes except for jeans. Money saver there. But once they started Jr. High, I didn't have time to sew. I haven't really done any sewing for the DGD's, but I do a lot of repairs for everyone!
Those are fabulous! You have a great talent.
I took sewing in middle school. I made a sweatshirt that looked great on the outside. ahem...it didn't look so good on the inside. Oh well, I can sew minor things.
Ahh yea...first..Im gonna send all my unfinished cross stich pieces to Diane, there are about 4,000,000 of them (some just need french knots, I cant do them then I get frustrated then it gets put in one of the many drawers and I get bored with it and start something else!) and I keep adding to it every year...go figure...second...oh you just keep posting those pictures! I wish I was that crafty...sewy...domestic...
MystikPiglet will be pleased about that!!
I could never do french knots either. I always left that for my Mom to finish for me.
I am for sure over counting but there are A LOT of them...I get bored! Or I mess it up somewhere and then put it down and never pick it up again and start on a new one...vicious cycle I tell ya
The pictures didn't come out that well. I dont know why I am having trouble with the camera. But you get the idea.
