Just reviewing our cruise confirmation email and noticed a couple of things. We thought we were on the Magic but instead we are on the Wonder. We thought our itinerary was.......

    Miami
    Day at sea
    Grand Cayman
    Day at sea
    Castaway Cay
    Miami

    .....instead it is......

    Miami
    Day at sea
    Grand Cayman
    Cozumel
    Day at sea
    Miami

.....AGH! No Castaway Cay!!! We are thinking of canceling and picking another cruise but we got such a good rate. $1,600 for 5 nights in deluxe inside stateroom (secret porthole room #5020). We were so excited that we thought we were going to be on the refurbished Magic and on Castaway Cay for our 20th anniversary. What to do, what to do???

On no that's not good :(

Is it worth contacting reservations and seeing how much the difference is to transfer to the Magic  You certainly got a very good rate though.

    What a complete pain :sigh:

Yeah, we already checked the Magic and the price jumps up to $2,400 for a standard inside stateroom on Deck 2. It is a 7 night compared to a 5 night but still quite a bit of a jump in price.

I was trying to find some information on the Wonder since we haven't been on this ship since 2002. It looks like it had a bit of a refurb in 2006 but I don't believe the rooms were redone at that time. Does anyone know any other information for the Wonder? Is it still the old beds and linens, etc.?

Personally, I would rebook to the trip you would be excited about and try not to think about the extra expense. :)

Any possible chance at all you could do both? I know that sounds like gilding the lily, but you are celebrating 20 years together and that always warrants a very special time!

If we weren't doing a full week at Disney two months before the cruise in December we could probably swing that but at this point the cash is losing it's elasticity.

I've never been to Castaway Cay but is that deal breaker? The other rate is quite good

I`ve heard many DCL cruisers say that they wished that the ships would stop at Castaway Cay more than once per cruise.
It is a fabulous venue, but a "deal breaker" I dunno!!!

Okay, no worries everyone. It was a glitch in Disney's reservations system that caused the issue. We are definitely going to Castaway Cay!!!

Well! That's really good to find out before you booked a second cruise, eh? :D I'll bet you are very relieved.

Thanks everyone and yes Tink, we were relieved. Still wish we were on the refurbed Magic but have no problem with the Wonder.

Was checking out the Port of Miami website and it looks like this is a very busy port. The only US port we have sailed from has been Port Canaveral. We are planning on just getting there as early as possible to park on the day of debarkation.

Oh, oh, oh.... not to borrow trouble but that could end up being a disaster. :( You'll be coming over Alligator Alley, yes? Nothing to do but sit and wait if there is an accident. You may want to consider looking into an overnight hotel stay. Some have it with free parking for the duration of the cruise and shuttle to the port. The port is pretty neat! Right on Biscayne Bay. I know there is a Intercontinental within walking distance, but that might be pricey.

I'm trying to remember which hotel we used... it was near the airport, had free parking and free shuttle to and from the port. It was a suite hotel, I think...

Anyway, give it a thought, ok?

Thanks Tink. Yes, the only way over is Alligator Alley (I75) or HWY 41. This is something we are giving thought to. There is a Holiday Inn near the port (not sure of exact location yet) for $199. I haven't yet checked the other details. The hotel you stayed at sounds exactly the kind of deal with the parking and shuttle that we take advantage of when we sail out of Port Canaveral. The parking at Port of Miami is $20 a day so this particular hotel would cost us an additional $100 but it might be worth it. I just want to make sure it is well lit and has security as with the port's parking lots and garages.
