This year I ate off site a few times
Golden Corral lunch for 8 dollars is not bad
I love GC yum
It suits my fussy food eating sons!
Most of our dining nowadays tends to be off site as dining at Disney is getting darn expensive, not to mention the hassle of securing a reservation thanks to the various dining plans etc..
I really couldn't be doing with dining plans... I never know when I'm going to be hungry or where I'm going to be so it wouldn't work at all for me. I just go with the flow so off site dining is perfect for us.
Just be alert to the fact that not all Golden Corrals are created equal. The one closest to Disney, and oddly enough the one on 50 in Clermont are actually quite good. (Of course, any place that serves fried chicken, and has a chocolate fountain for breakfast makes it hard to complain about ). Not so with the others, so be careful which one you choose to go to.
I went to the one on homeland road
They have a chocolate fountain now? Sheesh I must get back over there sometime soonish.
It's. Vineland road and they have strawberries and marshmallows for dipping
And sometimes cheesecake squares and brownies.
Robert and Tink, please stop talking about things I cannot have this year
All this for breakfast?
Must admit I've had some good meals at GC, although I suspect I don't really do it justice when I see how many times other people go back for piled up plates
I do like going there when I don't know what I really want to eat. I'll always find something there
As Tink says though, vineland road seems ok, but some of the others are absolute dives with food left out too long and hygiene simply something that happens to other places.
Yep, Keith. Buffets are always very dicey places to eat. You are really taking your chances. The key for GC is to be at one of the two we've mentioned because they have a huge turnover and things are kept replenished. If they are not, I don't choose that item. The chocolate fountain is a very iffy thing, even in the two "good" GCs, as children who are unsupervised do unspeakable things in those fountains. Ick. I'm not a milk chocolate fan, so I don't truly have any, but thought I'd mention it.
The fried chicken for breakfast on the other hand...
I'm not actually fancying chocolate fountains of any kind anywhere, I see that they need to use large quantities of oil to make them flow
I don't ever really get my moneys worth at GC as I can't eat a lot but I do like to have their mash and gravy and their green beans, I can have quite a bit of that Oh and their orange sorbet ice cream thingy... love that too. and that's me done.
I have found their salad bar offerings to be quite good. I avoid anything there that looks too prepared, like soups and other dishes along those line. Their desserts are all way too sweet for me, but that's typical. They do a very nice fried chicken though, and if you haven't figured it out, that's a weakness of mine (so I stay away from places that have it as much as I can).
I didn't know about the oil, Esme. Sounds kind of blucky.
Well now I want fried chicken. And perhaps mashed potatoes.
But definitely fried chicken.
Publix does some of the best fried chicken in all of Florida. If you get there when it's hot... the aroma will drive you mad. It's pretty cold out of the cold case and reheated, but I prefer it when it's fresh and hot.
I'll second that and I think Keith will third it
I love Publix fried chicken yet another food addiction you've given me
Love Publix cold meat when we stayed in a villa I used to buy the boars head ham and turkey whith the fresh crusty bread great lunch
Oh yes we always buy Boars Head, it's the best. I love their subs
