Yeah, saw that....looks like most tracks take it to coastal Virginia on Independence Day. Looks to be a soaker.
BOO!!! This storm is really wreaking havoc with our weekend plans! My parents are visiting this week (arriving today!) and we had plans to take the ferry to Port Jefferson on Thursday and then go into the city to visit the newly opened 9-11 Museum on Friday. Looks like at best it may be a soggy end-of-the-week.
I hear that. Looks like it will be affecting Coastal Virginia late Thursday evening into Friday. I wish it a speedy departure. Got to get some good weather for a vacation day!
Bad news for those going around the same time as me. I seem to attract bad weather. In 1992 we arrived just before Hurricane Andrew, in 2001 we left just before Hurricane Gabrielle, the worst was Hurricane Katrina in 2005. We were shut in the hotel for 24 hours. In 2006 we were lucky as it was Tropical Storm Chris Last year was better though and we escaped. Katrina was a very strange one as everyone new the damage this one was causing/caused. So no-one moaned or complained about the fact we were not allowed out of the hotel. We were in Wilderness Lodge at the time and Disney were very good providing food and entertainment and even a character or two arrived to entertain the kids.
Yikes Oreo...that is a stretch of bad timing isn't it? Well it looks like I need to get home today and clean out the rain gutters as I think there will be some pretty heavy rain in Coastal VA on Friday, July 4. Man, and I am on vacation that day!
The 4th is going to be a washout that's for sure. But that's ok with me as I may very sleep most of the day. I feel like I have driven all week. Well I have driven all week. Lots of clients to see! Sat the 5th looks amazing though. We are going to Busch Gardens to eat BBQ and watch the fireworks. I think we may try to see The Romantics since they'll be playing
Well we are being told to brace for tropical storm strength winds and heavy rain. The center should be off the Virginia Capes around 2 AM Friday. Could be a bumpy night. Glad this one is going to be a glancing blow. This morning the weather was pretty good. Sunny, high of 82 but you could see the cloud deck getting a bit lower. I just checked the barometer trend and it is up a bit over the past few hours. I am sure that will change as the day progresses.
It went to catagory 2 and hit NC pretty hard. I hardly noticed it here in coastal Virginia. We had some rain and bit of wind but to be honest not a lot of damage. I had to pick up about 50 pine cones from the yard and a few twings. The weird thing is that after a hurricane passes we get the winds out of the Northwest and wow does the weather improve quickly and dramatically. It got so nice! The storm started raining somewhere around 2:00 AM and the clouds had all gone by noon. It go so nice DD and I went to the pool to take in the sun and beautiful weather.
