So I was hoping to take a trip to five guys during our trip in September.

However, after searching for somewhere to eat yesterday I noticed there is now a Five Guys in Birmingham :O

My question, do I try it here first or do I wait until Septemeber knowing that once i've eaten there it probably won't be the same over here?

    Tough choice lol

    It's worth the money then?

I've heard good things and I am tempted to make a special trip into Birmingham just to get one ;)

We haven't tried it over here yet. We really like it in the USA though. We will probably be trying the one in Manchester in August so I should be able to compare them.

They are delicious and it will be interesting to se if they offer the same huge amount if toppings as in the US.

Maybe it is me, I kind of find them lacking. We have a few here and just don't get the buzz. They are pretty good, but I would not go out of my way to go to one. We never think, hey I want a burger, well it has to be 5 Guys. With that in mind maybe I need to go back again. The first one we went to was pretty good. That was at the Potomac Mills Outlets. We have tried several in our area and were never as good as the first one.
But they are rather popular and always have a line so obviously I am missing something.

I went to the one in Reading. It was a decent enough burger, but very messy (I had the veggie).

The people working there were really friendly, which made a nice change.

I'm more in Dan's camp. :sorry: I'm not a fan. But, I'm very particular about burgers. They have to be HOT with the cheese melted from the heat of the cooker, not from absorbing the heat from the burger. Plus, they put all that stuff on them that just makes them cool off faster. I don't like hot lettuce (unless it is grilled romaine) and I really don't like Florida tomatoes.

To be honest, there isn't a fast food burger out there that I really like, or ever find myself wishing for. I particularly dislike 5 Guys soggy fries. :(

Culver's is a place that a lot of people like. They are starting to pop up everywhere here in Southwest Florida. I tried them long ago when I lived in Minnesota and didn't understand the fuss but that was about 10 years ago. I might have to give them another try.

BTW, I am a fan of Five Guys.

Went into Birmingham this morning for a bit of holiday shopping. Thought we'd get a bite to eat for breakfast.

So as we were walking past five guys we decided to have a burger at 11 am :)

Must say I was very impressed. It was quite expensive but totally worth it.

Can't wait to try it in Orlando :)

Funny you should say that, we were in the Trafford Centre yesterday and had Five Guys for lunch. It was very nice, not sure if it was as good as the US but the price was crazy expensive!

It bought back some good memories that will have to keep us going g another 12 months.

I like Five Guys a lot, but I do find them expensive even in the US. I know why they are having read about the sourcing and the quality of ingredients. Having said that, every time I go to Florida Mall, the queues are huge. Last year at the end of the 25 minutes I was glad to sit down and couldn't have cared less about the burger. We were in London the day before it opened there and couldn't believe the prices. It was twice as expensive as the US! Anyone who lives close to the capital, can I recommend Honest Burgers. It is my absolute favourite, the sourcing is impeccable and it is cheaper to sit in the restaurant there than have takeaway food at Five Guys.
