I think they can stop in villiages and use the facilities  its not the sahara just not when you are in the game parks.

Pages is great - although you could prossibly do it with just notes - which is a pretty neat app all by itself

Most of the animals will be very active during/after rainy spells. The tortoises at the very least! They have reserves of water and don't empty their bladders unless startled or when they are 100% sure they can refill them (ie when it rains or when they are near a puddle to drink from)

Elephants would love to play in the rain, too! (but i'm guessing your camera won't.)

:D - mmm ok I wonder who I could possibly sound like

    Thanks Josh

Had an email yesterday saying that unfortuanately due to a really bad drought last year Mizma srpings ( our 3rd day of the safari) was home to hundreds of Hippo - it is now only home to a few as there were an awful lot of deaths so we wont be getting that wow of hippos to the horizon

Forecast for coming weeks still isn't spectacular

A fairly obvious comment Chris, but please double check that you have not left any valuables in your room when you check out of the lodges after your safari as the chances of ever seeing them again are zilch.
I "hid" my camcorder battery in our room at Amboseli on our safari a while back and forgot about it when we left.
We were told that there was just no way of ever seeing it again after we had left, even though we were only moving onto a different reserve in Kenya for the next leg of the safari.
