We will be staying at SSR for 2 weeks, later in the year. As it is our first visit there, do you have any handy tips or useful advice about the resort?

    Thank you. :)

What I'd like to know is do you park right outside your building like OKW or are there larger car parks :)

We stayed in a 1 bedroom at SSR last November. It was quite nice but still only sleeps 4 people. I loved the location, the resort is beautiful and the room was great. My only complaint about the room itself is that whomever designed it didn't think one bit about actual functionality. There was lots of space that was just pointless and could have been utilized so much better.

I swear in my next life, I'm going to be an architect

We stayed in a studio. I really loved it there. The spa is amazing. We loved the walk to DTD but I have a feeling it's been closed off.

    Thanks, Johnie and Vikki. :)
We are having the one bed villa for the two of us because we like lots of empty space. :D
Brit, the one bed villas do only sleep 4.

Thanks Diane, I think it's really nice to have the 1 bed. Kitchen and full size fridge etc so you can cater for yourself if you want. Also with the washer/drier you don't have to take too much with you and do it as you go!

Yes, indeed. I like having the laundry area, I couldn't go back to an ordinary room now. :)
Also, I get up about 2 hours before Pete so a separate sitting room is pretty necessary. :D

Only thing I can add is to take advantage of the boats to DTD and beyond. You can take the boat to DTD and take a boat to OKW and one of our favorite places to eat Olivia's or take one to POR and Boatwrights.

Sorry, for highjacking the thread... but Im wondering if its a good resort to stay at if you dont have a car. Ive heard its massive, so Im not sure it works when you dont take a car.

    Thanks!

'Skip - We will try to use the boat whenever we can. :) I do like the boat ride. Won't be going to either of those two restaurants though, we're not fans.

Mari - We never have a car when we stay on site. If we want to go anywhere that the Disney transportation doesn't go, we just take a taxi. :)

I think it works better with Disney transportation than some other resorts.

We've stayed a number of times. It is a very large resort, but easy enough to get around, Mari.

Not sure how they could close off walking from SSR to DTD as you can easily get to the road (sidewalk there) and walk over. That's usually what we do.

The spa is lovely. The pools are very nice. The parking is not as convenient at OKW, as you can end up parking a ways from your villa, but it's still not as bad as parking at the BW, for example.

The food is its greatest downfall. The "counter service" place is ok, but only just. We have not liked the Turf Room at all and have completely given up on it. But, you do have that proximity to DTD so it's not as huge an inconvenience as it could be.

There are some better locations than others, but those sorts of opinions are so subjective they are hard to be of value to others, eh?

There is a bit of lack of atmosphere there, but nothing really terrible.

It's certainly a nice place to stay, and you should really enjoy yourself.

Oh, and the transport is quite good, although prone to "HOW MANY MK busses?!" before the bus you seem to be waiting for comes along. :)

We've requested the Grandstand area, Tink. What do think?
