We arrive to WDW on May 1st. Since this will be a very short trip, we will only visit Epcot on that day.

The girls will be satisfied with Nemo, Figment and SE. Tatiana will also get to ride Soarin'. Not sure Natalia will meet the height, and she's a bit of a scaredy cat, so not too much hope she will ride it.

We plan on arriving around 5:00 and staying until 9:00 for Illuminations.

At the moment, we have an ADR for The Garden Grill at 7:00. I would really like to go to this place, and it will be our only chance this trip to meet Mickey. Still, it will take at least 1:30 of our already shot Epcot day, AND the Flower and Garden festival will still be on, meaning we could try a lot of different yummy food at the kiosks

    So.. HELP me choose!!!

Keep Garden Grill or eat at the Flower and Garden Kiosks?

Personally, I would choose to eat at the kiosks. This is one of the main reasons I wanted to go in May this year lol.

I've heard mostly great things about Garden Grill and this would guarantee meeting Mickey. I think this would be more enjoyable for your girls.

Just beware though, eating at the kiosks can get to be a tad costly.
The portions are not that large so by the time you have snacked at a few of them, it would have been less expensive to have had a sit down meal !!!

Garden grill is a lovely place to eat and it gives you a chance to recharge after travelling.
On the other hand I found the meet and greet with Mickey & co at Epcot around 8ish was really quiet and a short 5 min wait. Maybe an option if you decide to go with the kiosks.
    Sorry not much help. :)

The kiosks can work out very expensive Mari, the other thing is that you often have to eat standing up, which might be difficult for the girls.

Personally, I think the girls would prefer the Garden Grill and they get to meet Mickey :D

Maybe you could grab a snack from the kiosks earlier on.

Is May 1 a week day? If not, avoid the kiosks. The local guests flood the park on weekends.

I think I would do the Garden Grill, although I've never had a meal there. If, after the meal when you are strolling the WS, and a bit of a sweet looks good to you, do that. Otherwise, as has been said, it does get very costly to have a full meal at the kiosks. It's also not as comfortable, with regard to seating and tables.

I'm not sure why but I am not a fan of the Garden Grill. The food was fine, if I remember correctly it was similar to Liberty Tree's menu. I just don't like the restaurant and the whole set up. In my opinion Epcot has so many better options. I have never been there for F&W so I would love to walk around sampling the different countries.

I really like Garden Grill. The character interaction is brilliant and I think the food is pretty decent too.

You've never been during F&W?! That has to be corrected as soon as possible! :D You would really have a nice time, Butterhead1.

Oh, and P.S. Thanks for the help with recommendations for my friend's first visit to NYC. She came back babbling with happiness and cannot wait to return. :D

Glad to hear that your friend enjoyed her trip to the City.
My wife is a school teacher here in NYC so we only get to travel on her days(weeks off). When she retires I would like to visit Disney during theChristmas season, the Food and Wine festival , ESPN weekend and Star Wars weeks.

    Thanks for your replies!

Yes, May 1st is a thursday. We will get to Orlando around 2:30, so hopefully by 5 we'll be at Epcot, which gives us 4 hours for rides, strolling around and eating.

Honestly I hadnt considered not being able to sit down, and thats a big factor, but I really like the idea of having dessert at the kiosks! So maybe the best of both worlds!

That can work then, Mari! You could review what the kiosks have to offer, and then decide what desserts or after dinner snack you may want to have.

Sitting in the WS during an event like that is not accomplished very easily. There are the tall pub type tables scattered around and that works for adult to stand at with their food, but little ones are not going to be able to do that.

true... plus we would have to somehow each push a stroller while carrying a food plate... pretty complicated!
