Hi and welcome to Secrets. I'm so glad you decided to join us, you can add a countdown timber to your signature on here as well. You can get it here

The Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom is amazing, it's a separate ticket event, but it's different to the Halloween activities we have over here. I was never into it either but now go to the party every year, I wouldn't miss it.

I really dislike haloween here. Usually it's chavs with a hood over their head asking for money.

However, in the States it is a totally different experience. It is lovely to be part of and would recommend the Mickey's not so scarey halloween party.

In fact we've booked to go back this year.

My brother and his gf are doing the Haloween Horror nights over at universal as well but we've opted out of that and will do something else.

I was a big hater of haloween in general but the MNSSHP has really changed my opinion, over in america anyway.

I followed the link from this site and set up direct with Disney very easy to do and it was free I just needed credit card details for o'hanas at the Polynesian but none if my other ADR required that.

Have a look to see if there is anywhere you would really like to eat at, I decided what day I wanted to visit each park and looked at what restaurants they had in each park, for instance when I visited animal kingdom I knew I wanted breakfast at Tusker house so I booked that at Hollywood studios I wanted lunch at sci fi dine in, etc .
    X enjoy your planning

Got to say that I feel the same. We for the first time have booked ADR's. As were on the Dining plan we felt we need to get our monies worth. We arn't going peak season but we know from experience that if we want to eat at places we fancy then ADR's are a must.

This along with fastpass plus have killed the spontaneity.

I loved being able to get in to the hotel on an evening and deciding to have a lie in or changing our plans so that we can go to a different park.

It just makes it that little more difficult.

I agree with you both. It's truly hard to know where you want to be and where you want to dine on any given day. Now, you need to know which attractions and at what time! In some ways, I do understand the planning. Yes, theoretically you can get the most out of your WDW time if you use all the planning features and stick with those preplanned schedules.

However, that does not allow for spontaneity, as you say! What if you want to stop and watch a street performance that you didn't know anything about? What if you want to simply take a bit longer to get ready in the morning (or if something comes up that causes a delay)? What if your daily park of choice is overrun with tourist groups and you want to park hop to a different park that day? Planning is all well and good, but there has to be a viable ability to be flexible, or you become a slave to the plan, and for me, that's when the fun stops. :sigh:

The way we have 'tried' to get around it is by having an idea of the park we are doing that day and booking early fastpasses. This way if we change our mind the night before we can cancel the fastpasses and hopefully book others at our changed park.

As for the ADRs we've booked these as late as possible so that it doesn't really matter what park we're in for the day we can always hop over to wherever our ADR is.

In theory it sounds like the best plan for us but in practise it probably won't work as late nights and early mornings will probably tire us out.

As the holiday moves on I think we will be changing those fastpasses for later and later in the day.

I'm pretty hard on the new FP system. :sorry: They go quickly. Faster than ever before as people are booking them ahead, as they can, but then not using them. That ties up the slot, without actually using it.

You'll see it when you are there. Short, short lines for FP, with long, long lines at the kiosks. Waiting for a FP for those who cannot book ahead, is now longer than waiting on line for the attraction itself in many cases. It's a very imperfect system that has gone the way of the crazy ADR system.

Oh well. It seems WDW is satisfied with both, and not much concerned about the problems the systems cause the day guest, or the offsite guest.
