Hi, I'm Natalie . I have two small children one 6 and one 4 months . We have a holiday booked to Menorca in October and its just me and them, I wasn't worried until I started panicking about how I'm going to manage two suitcases and pushing a buggy .. Any tips ?

Ahh, now that's a good one

I haven't had to manage like that before but I'm sure one of our mums or dads will be along shortly to help you.

I don't know if they will have anyone at the airport who could help you, it might be worth contacting the company you have booked through and ask them.

I was thinking the same speaking to the travel agent ..
We're going to stay in a hotel at the airport or nearby the night before as our flight is at 6am :O
I was thinking maybe getting a taxi from hotel and the driver may help me at least put the suitcases on a trolley and ill have to trust my 6 year old pushing his brother through the airport lol could be fun

I traveled alone with my children quite often when they were roughly the same age (my children are also 6 years apart).

A couple of tips that I can offer:
Six year olds CAN push a stroller! I would highly recommend two things, practice and incentives! When you're out and about on small jaunts (even just around the neighborhood) let him take the lead...practice makes perfect and children LOVE repetition! Reward him with something small for being a good helper, children like to know they are appreciated. Whether it's a small treat, or a few extra minutes of special "mom time", this will reinforce the helping attitude. Additionally, I found it was quite useful to be honest with my son, they LOVE to know they're actually helping you out, not simply doing a "chore" (though my DS always found pushing the stroller LOADS of fun, he would take his sister on "adventures" )

Also, backpacks can be INVALUABLE. When we traveled, I carried one large suitcase and a single backpack. This kept one hand free to offer assistance in case my son started headlong into a wall with the stroller

Ask for help! People are (generally speaking) kind. I was never shy about asking a passerby to "please hold the door" or the like. Likewise, I was conscious and courteous of those around me - allowing people to move ahead when necessary and thanking them for the kindnesses.

Above all, take things as slow as you need to, give yourself TWICE the amount of time you think it will take you to get from A to B, and don't sweat the small stuff. Small Stuff defined as pretty much ANYTHING that doesn't result in direct harm to you or your children

OH! And HAVE FUN!!! I still look back on my "solo" trips with the kids as some of my favorite memories :)

Thank you so much . That's all fab advice . Ive noticed since taking the boys out on day trips that people will open doors and help me of a train with the buggy and generally are very helpful . Def will be getting a backpack for my hand luggage very handy
Josh, my eldest , does love helping out and I'm sure with some treats and bits along the way he will be very good . He loves being the big brother. He comes in every morning when he wakes up and carries jack into the lounge and puts disney junior on for him it's very sweet :)

let me tell you a little story....lol

we moved to the US a few years ago now and hubby had left before us. I had a just turned 7 year old and a 2 year old. We had to change planes in Washington DC, back then the luggage allowance was 32KG x 2. So we had 6 bags around 32kg a car seat and a pushchair. We got no help from Virgin who had been arranged to help us and we managed to collect the luggage and wheel it across the airport and check it back in. My 7 year old pushed a trolley loaded with cases as did i with a 2 year old sat on top. You can do it, it may be stressful but you can look forward to a nice drink once you get to your hotel.

Oh, and P.S. Where exactly is Menorca? (says the dumb, geographically challenged American woman with no sense of direction) :)

Menorca is a small island out in the Mediterranean. It is very close to Mallorca.
