Just wondering what you all do for entertainment if you have a long flight?
I usually just watch a couple of the films and sit and think of what's to come for the next few weeks....I am quite content thinking of myself watching Wishes.

What about those of you who have kids....how do you keep them happy?

I haven't really been on a long flight. Ours are usually less than 2 hours so I sleep and read.

We're going to CA in Aug so that will be the longest one I've been on and I am dreading it.

I'm USUALLY not too bad on the flight there. Watch a couple of movies, hopefully a documentary if they have one on :) and maybe a book. The way back I'm hopeless :( can't sleep, cant watch movies, just sit there feeling cramped until its over

I think the clever people are the ones with movies on their ipods or portable dvd players and a few long waited for movies.

I read or write in my travel journal. And try not to wiggle, twitch, jiggle my feet, shift around forty times a second... :D

I do watch movies from time to time, but not recently. They usually hold no interest for me.

    I often work, too.

Mine's only about five hours--short compared to yours!

And sometimes it's connecting flights, so it's 1 to 1-1/2 hours followed by the balance to reach MCO. Depends on the connection location.

For NS flight--usually very early in the morning--I tuck myself in my seat with my pillow, reading glasses (gotta love middle age!), extra magazine or and water bottle in the seat-back pocket and tape a short nap--usually about one hour. Then I'm ready to read the in-flight magazine and supplemental materials and drink some water. And annoy whoever else is in the row when I have to get up to use the loo. I favour the window seat!

I hate sitting still so the flight is a nightmare for me. Once I've eaten the meal, done some inflight shopping and watched a film I spend the rest of the time fidgeting and annoying DH. :D

Usually wait for the movies to start working, if ever :rolleyes008:Read the skymag over and over as well as the pile of magazines that I take with me.

Usually take bits and pieces for the kids - comics, stickers etc - will take our Nintendo DS's next year though.

I always find the flight there doesn't seem to take too long it's the flight home that's the killer as I don't sleep at all and have to listen to all the snoring :rolleyes008:

I always prefer the aisle seat (on the right side of the plane if possible).

Piglit, I am so with you. I hate sitting still. I have to fidget and wiggle and move any part of my body that I can. It's awful for the person next to me! :(

    I'm a wiggler too.

I sit for 9 hours saying "god I'm bored" every 2 minutes. And in the minutes inbetween I drive Adrian mad telling him how long we've got left to go according to the skymap.

The last trip was good... I had seen Shrek 2 (?) so spent the whole 8hrs saying, "Are we there yet?" in Donkey's voice.
    DH loved it...:4:

But then I'll be saying "god I'm bored" every 60 seconds. I just find flying so boring. I takes books and puzzles and stuff but I can't get into them with people moving all around me. I amuse myself by counting how many times the kid in row 2 goes to the toilet during the flight, and things like that.

I hate to be sitting still. They should put a jogging machine at the back of the plane for people like me.

Can you imagine that! Awesome idea!

Usually my children prevent me from enjoying any of the books, magazines or movies on offer. I swear when we first took Owen he walked across the Atlantic. Up and down the aisle for nearly 8 hrs!

I'm too excited when I first get on to concentrate on anything for long... then I rummage through the flight mags and see if I want to buy anything... then look at the prices and decide nope... unless it's that heated eyelash curler that I must have (like last time) and it never gets used now :( Then I may watch a film, read a book in all sorts of positions... feet on the people in front arm rests... or I kneel facing the back of my seat to read... it's comfy and a change on such a loooooooong flight. Then I get up and go to the loo and struggle in those teeny weeny spaces cos I go armed with toilet cleaner and disposable cloths so I have to manouvre my way around cleaning the toilet and seat before I can even think of going :( then I have to clean the sink and taps before washing my hands cos I don't want zillions of germs... then I have to clean the door handle oh and the toilet handle also gets a wipe if it's impossible to flush it using my foot... if the floor is icky I give that a clean too. Phew then I open the doors and see loads of angry faces ready to lynch me... but hey ho the toilet is clean for the next person! :)
