you will love it - the windows/apple switch 101 on the apple site was very useful for me
i got a refurb macbook pro from apple
im pleased because its got a firewire and sd slot which was two important things i wanted
does the mac support mpeg movies ????
Depends on which flavor of MPEG. There's three of them. MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and now MPEG-4. You'll get both MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 support out of the box. But for MPEG-2 support, there's a $19.99 add-on to Quicktime that you'd need.
For Windows Media, there's a plug-in you'll need called Flip4Mac that allows you to view Windows Media files. It's free and distributed by Microsoft. Once you get your Mac, you can the Flip4Mac plug-in here.
Both of these things above are plug-ins for the Quicktime player that will come with your Mac. Just extends its capabilities.
Oh and BTW... congratulations on your decision! I'm absolutely sure you'll love it!
And I didn't even have to weigh in on the discussion!

ive never assumed youve bought rubbish, i just mentioned rubbish makes. what was the make you paid a grand for sony? just because you spend a grand on something, doesnt always mean your buying the best. have you tried windows 7 yet?....im not saying go buy im glad your happy with your choice
i can only go by my own experiences and ive not come across so many people who have had the problems people have on here and i deal with a lot of people who have no problems at all
i remember the problems we had trying to get limewire working on your laptop and how worked up you got
maybe its just the windows based hardware thats the problem not windows itself who knows
that might be a way of me getting a mac, a refurbed one didnt cross my mind about that
I'm pretty sure windows is the problem Mick A lot of the hardware used gets used for windows computers, too.
of course its used for windows machines its running windows ....do you mean the hardware is used on macs?
I meant a lot of the mac hardware gets used on windows computers too
Just remembered my *fave* feature of the mac- the spell checker spell checks everything It's not browser-specific or anything, covers the whole OS Really helps when you're writing on a forum etc.
