I really want to see Illuminations this year as we haven't on the past few trips.
As Pete cannot bear to waste time just sitting around to get a viewing spot, I wondered about booking a meal. What are your thoughts on the Rose and Crown or La Hacienda? (I realise we may not necessarily get a good view.)
    Thank you. :)

Those are probably the best choices. You can also get a pretty good view from Tokyo Dining in Japan.

I've taken the plunge and booked my first ADR. La Hacienda. :)

We've loved the Rose and Crown for this purpose, but the new Mexican restaurant was built in its location for the very purpose of viewing Illuminations, so it should be quite lovely. From what I can recall, there are many opportunities for window seats. I'd arrive a bit early and ask for the next available window seat. That might just work for you!

Piglet, when are you going? We have not had the opportunity to try La Hacienda yet and would love to know how it is before our December trip.

Thanks for the tip, we have a 7.30 reservation. :)

DF, we're going in November so I'll let you know how it is. :)
