Don't you mean "your" iPad won't be far behind?

If I had to guess, I'd say Lisa's already got hers!

It really is amazing! With the proliferation of apps for this thing, I can easily see where this could become a laptop replacement for a great many people.

    Tom :)macwave:... still stunned!)

Not really. Gmail is just another IMAP mail option. It's free so that's certainly something in it's favor. There's many other IMAP mail options including Apples MobileMe. I'm sure Keith knows of others.

The reason for an IMAP mail account is so that you can keep your email in sync between all your digital devices. Computer, phone, iPad, whatever. Here's a post I made earlier trying to describe the differences between POP and IMAP email accounts.

    Tom :)macwave:... you've got mail!)

Well I may one day spring for mobile me but I was pontes in the direction of gmail and was up and running with a good email name in about 40 seconds. I kid you not.

I have spent many a frustrating hour trying to get new email accounts to work on outlook.

Gmail on the ipad and iPhone and iMac took 3 minutes to get up running and communicating on all the devices. I know the imap thing is new to me only. Ever having web based and pop accounts before but i could tell we had had an email at 9 this mo rning whilst I was at work as the ipone buzzed. Lisa had read it and replied and I could see what she had written. Genius IMHO

Seriously in one fell swoop that just defines the difference between Mac and windows. One seems to go out the way to make in hard the other could not be easier

Bless, my UPS man came straight to work today to see if I was there first! Loving my new cover. I'm actually quite impressed with it compared to the reviews

So... having used the iPad would you choose to buy the iPad or the new iPhone?

I'm going to buy one with some of my student loan (I'm staying at home now to do a primary teaching course so don't need it as much as I did when I planned on going to goldsmiths) but I think the new iPhone is just edging ahead... my 'vintage' iPhone is showing signs of being old now (since I won't be able to upgrade it to the newest iPhone software)
