I had an ipad 2 (full size) at my old school and pretty much used it as my own. Now I'm at a new school I have an ipad mini. It's ok, but it's all linked up to the kids ones so I can't use it like I used to.
So I'm considering getting my own ipad. We have an android tablet and I use my android phone all the time, so it's really an ipad I want. I don't want a mini as I really prefer the full size. Also, I have a very nice radley case for it, which I used to have for my old school one.
So, which ipad should I get? I don't need masses of memory so a 16gb is fine. Is the extra expense of an air worth it? Would an air even fit in my old cover?
Also, where should I buy? Is online with Amazon usually the easiest or an actual apple store? I'm going to London next week for my birthday, so would be able to go to one.
    Help!!!!!

Well sizewise it's absolutely an individual choice! I read a lot on mine and prefer the mini size for that, but if I was reading web sites etc all the time I'd prefer the full size.. I think you've already made that decision so that's fine.

An air is better in that it's lighter and slimmer so easier to hold and carry but probably wont fit wonderfully in your old cover no :( personally if you're going full size, i'd go for the air yep.

You can buy it from wherever is cheapest since it's exactly the same unit and you get nothing more from apple than from anyone else. I like John Lewis as the prices are the same but you get a 2 yr guarantee.

Buying from the apple store is a nice experience of course :) and buying from amazon will sometimes save you a few bob

I mean, you can't go wrong buying an ipad air 2 from the apple store :) it'll be a nice warm fuzzy buy for sure

I have to admit I've never been in an apple store. What is this fuzzy feeling you speak of?

Vikki, had an iPad Air from Santa. I love it so far. It's light, fast and has a good display. :)
Keith, hubby braved the Apple store and fuzzy was not what he was feeling.

What's the benefit of an air, aside from it being lighter? Is it significantly faster and a better display?

Can't help there as this is my first iPad. It's light enough to hold in one hand and seems super-fast to me. :)

Ah, maybe Keith can pop back and help with that.
To be honest, the ipad 2 that I had was perfectly adequate for what I need, but it's not available anymore so I don't know what compare to it. But I also don't want something that'll go out of date too quickly.

I see. At least limiting myself to an ipad makes things slightly easier. If it was just any tablet of any make I'd be deciding for months.
So what's this apple store fuzz then Keith?

oh gosh nothing more than just a really nice retail experience (usually) I find it a genuinely top end, helpful staff shopping trip. Leaves you feeling you've bought from a good place.

To be fair, although Pete is not an Apple fan, he was impressed with the staff there.

I'm a bit late to this party, but I'd definitely recommend the Air too.

Although buying older hardware may be fine now, a couple of software updates later, it will be struggling.

Also, I find the Air is so much nicer to hold than the original due to its lightness.

So far, yes. It's so light and easy to use. I do love setting a new toy up too. Making sure the wallpaper is nice, and arranging all my apps. I sound like a right saddo!
Love how clear the screen is. Was watching some music videos on YouTube and the sound quality was fantastic.
Only problem is that it doesn't fit in my radley cover hehe.
