so how much cheaper do you reckon i'll get the 7 plus than the 8 plus in a few days? at the moment there's £30 in it! I remember when we had to wait ages for the apple site to tell us all the prices etc. They're really on it now!

Now I'm unsure about X I think the notch would get in my nerves. Love the fact it has DV and HDR but I don't watch video on my phone and I would hate watching video with notch on the side :/

that notch is going to drive a lot of people to the iphone 7 or 8. Samsung very wisely kept a small bezel to avoid the notch and I think its poor design on apples side to have it there tbh.

Yes I'm unsure if should stay as I have Apple Watch, iPad. I would stay only because of ecosystems more than anything which annoys me. I think the silly design is enough for me not to have iPhone X unfortunately so I can see a huge surge of demand for iPhone 8.

Not sure what's my options as I am kind of wanting to jump ship....

well you can jump to the samsung s8 or note8 both great devices... your ipad will still work but your apple watch wont be much use (although their equivalent is fine)

the problem is,.... from time to time we all get bored but with like a week of android, we start realising how good we had it and want back into apple

I know :/ unsure if iPhone 8 is a huge jump or iPhone 7 plus will be fine and just wait and see what come out next year.

If my understanding is correct AR will work with phone 7

yep. The iphone 8 is a small jump, wireless charging is perhaps the nice bit but even then it's the difference between plugging in a cable and putting the device on a pad. it's not a life change <G>

AR will work but the phone isnt the right place for it... AR cant be a hold your phone up kinda thing, it needs to be in glasses or without anything eg holographic

Thanks. Not sure what you mean by AR in right place?

Debating if I will use the portrait lighting often. So it's possible that I will get a better value if I go for iPhone 7 plus 128gb for £769 rather than iPhone 8 plus 64gb for £799.

Well augmented reality, so IDEALLY you want to look out over a room full of people and magically see a tag above their heads telling you name/spouse/children/email address blah blah, or a sports event where it gives you stats. So, ideally you want that in front of your eyes somehow... the iphone will do that but you'll have to hold up the phone all the time and who wants that? suddenly your field of view is reduced to an iphone and everyone knows youre doing it <G>, so, it's not the right place for AR. The right place for AR is a set of glasses, ideally some visual implants ;-) if you see where i'm going with that

better value yes, the latest and greatest no. So it's that old thing again :) of course, the 7 will have ios11 on it anyway and a lot of the features are ios features not phone features so you'll get those whichever you get.

Ps. Jet black immaculate 7+ 128GB £500, if you know anyone who wants one :D

I'm not clear re speed side of thing. The speed between 7 plus and 8 plus a huge difference?

Another thing for me is I know whichever phone I get, it will be quite similar and familiar so may feel 'oh that it'.

Thats the big thing isnt it really :/ now a few things have changed in ios11 which will seem new which is good but yeah nothing like a change to android which is completely different.

In terms of speed, not that much difference, on one of the tech groups theyre calling the 8 the iphone 6ssss because they dont feel there's been any real increase since the 6s.

The problem is, if you go android, you have that week of OOO its all shiny followed by months of arghrhgrhg that just used to WORK on the iphone. Tons of imessage people who stop messaging cos you dont have imessage any more and so on. Sure, whatsapp is fine but apple people use imessage, just the way it is

You are so right. Excitement will go away. One thing I know with iOS. It just work. Sigh.

I am thinking maybe it's wise to buy iPhone 7 plus and see what next year bring. I do like AR and hope It will work just fine with I
    Phone 7 plus.

it'll work just fine and it'll be a taster... there'll be a few fun AR apps perhaps but ultimately, we're on our way to some kind of apple head gear/glasses probably powered by the phone

I'm SUCH a bad person to ask because I buy with my heart and I LOVE tech so I'm always getting the latest and greatest :( most people in the office this morning say they're looking for a bargain 7. One guy is on the phone to his cell provider now asking for deals.

Honestly, there's not much difference 7->8, the difference will be ios11 which of course is available for both

Thanks also there is a small 'fear' of missing out. The portrait lighting looks good unsure if it is a major upgrade to justify the price tag also wireless charging and glass back.

Not sure how I feel about spending money on something that has been out for a year. Really awful way of thinking I know(!)
