It has given me the option of the usual economy seats which I have chosen 27 J&K.
However, it is also giving me the option of the upper deck seats 76 A&B ....thought they were premium economy but I am obviously wrong.

    Which would you choose?

upper deck changed a year or more ago to be a split between economy and PE.. it's pretty awful for pe up there now :( but economy is fine yeah... reasonably fast to get off etc

Do the upper deck economy get off the plane before the regular economy seats?
I assume it may be quieter up there too :shrug1:

Sadly it was the worst thing that Virgin ever did moving economy passengers upstairs. I think they have done so at the expense of their PE passengers. The best seats upstairs are by the exits and they are now economy seats. Upstairs was an oasis, very quiet, not busy just calm and quiet. Thank goodness we don't have to go PE anymore.

To answer your question yes you will be let off after the PE and upper class passengers if the cabin crew are doing their job properly. If they aren't you may be one of the first off the plane.

completely agree :( it ruined PE and given the cost, they shouldnt have done it....

Sadly because economy upstairs are closer to the stairs than pe, either
    a) they let all the upstairs down first .... annoying downstairs PE/UC people
    b) they let dowstairs UC/PE go first THEN EC/PE upstairs...

We were up there last year purely to be able to get off the plane quicker. If you're not worried about a view out of the window then id sit downstairs by the stairs on the left to be able to get off quick.
The only other benefit to sitting upstairs in economy is those little lockers to the sides - very handy to store all your bits during the flight without taking up leg room :)

Do you still get the overhead storage?

Yes but there isn't much room in them. You def can't get the little cases in there. They do have wardrobes though to put your larger bags in.
We had a trunki for Zac and that had to go in there on the way out but we managed to get it under the seat on the way home.

The overhead lockers were meant for 2 seats either side. I think there are 3 now because of economy so that's why there isn't much storage. You can get a large handbag in the side locker.
