The monorail service will be adjusted on the Magic Kingdom and Epcot beams in order to accommodate the installation of a new state-of-the art train control system.

As a result, monorail service will run from:
    • 8:30 a.m.- midnight on the Magic Kingdom Resort beam
    • 9:30 a.m.- 11:30 p.m. on the Magic Kingdom Park Express beam
    • 9 a.m. -11 p.m. on the Epcot beam
Guests who have breakfast reservations scheduled at Magic Kingdom Park or a Resort hotel located on the monorail system will be able to use complimentary water launch service or bus transportation before the monorail resumes operation at 8:30 a.m.

This schedule will run through the summer and Disney will offer watercraft and additional buses will be available to transport Guests to their destinations.

I was hoping you were going to tell us the fancy red train like there is at Disney Land was coming to WDW. :D

Aren't they though? I wonder why. There is heavy use of the monorails. Seems sensible to update them to that fast, jazzy red one.

I'm probably alone on this one, but I prefer the shape of the WDW monorail.

The DL one looks very Tomorrowland-y, but somehow doesn't convey the friendliness of the WDW one - I think it's the overhang on either side. It looks like a friendly dog to me!

I just get the feeling that Disney are reluctanat to do anything to the monorail.

I always hoped they would extend it places but I'm not sure it will even remain for too much longer.

This change seems to be to make it driver-less, so if nothing else, it should be cheaper to run.

A driver-less monorail. That does sound rather scary lol

Ha ha! I know what you mean.

For me though, as long as it's still working and has that lovely welcoming voice over the tannoy, I'm happy. The monorail is one of my magical Disney moments. :)
